A man from Buriram province in northeast Thailand who makes chopsticks for a living won the first prize of six million baht in the lottery yesterday.

Prayat Khosuk, a 40 year old craftsman from Nong Bon subdistrict, travelled to Prakhon Chai Police Station to record evidence of his winnings yesterday.

The lucky winner said that his occupation is making OTOP products (One Tambon One Product). OTOP is a programme that supports locally made products from Thailand’s 7,255 “tambons.”

Prayat primarily makes wooden chopsticks and spoons from palm tree wood. He said he has been making OTOP products with a group of local people for a long time and they make enough profit.

OK, so this guy bought ONE ticket with random numbers, which possibly meant something to him, and won Bht 6M. Good luck to him.

But WHY would another person buy SIX tickets with the same random numbers and win Bht 36M. Surely a logical (Haha) person would hedge his bets and buy six tickets with different random numbers, unless there was a bit of 'insider trading' going on.

How many tickets with the same number does the Lottery company print, or give out online?

I wonder if he'll turn up for work Monday morning or up-sticks and disappear before all the relatives arrive?

What a silly answer.

Yes, I do buy Thai lottery tickets, and enter the UK National Lottery.

And I drive in Thailand, a gamble every time.

Well you spoke of lack of logic regarding buying multiple tickets. If you can’t see the logic in it one could assume your lack of knowledge wrt risk vs reward-fundamental to gambling.
