Popular Post bannork
I'm planning on returning to the UK permanently in 2 months, I renewed my retirement visa just over a month ago so I'm still under the 800,000 baht maintenance rule. I've just realised buying a plane ticket will take me slightly under the 800,000 baht. My question is do the banks inform immigration if someone's funds fall below the 800,000 baht minimum during the three month period post visa renewal? 4
Popular Post KannikaP
NO, and does it really matter if you are then leaving Thailand permanently? 1
Popular Post Red Phoenix
No, your Thai bank will NOT inform Immigration that one of their foreign customers has slipped under the required funds to meet the Funds-in-Bank condition for the Permit to stay. But be aware that the moment you breach the financial condition under which that Permit to stay has been provided to you, that that Permit to stay becomes invalid and that you are then on 'overstay'. But there is very little risk with that and unless Immigration would ask you to provide proof that you meet the financial conditions, nobody will find out. Note that by doing a border-run without a Re-Entry Permit you could get rid of your current Non Imm O based Permit to stay, and return VisaExempt which will provide you with a 30 day Permit to stay which can be extended with an additional 30 days. Doing so, there won't be any issue at all with liquidating your Thai Bank-account, which you probably want to do as you are planning to leave Thailand permanently, and it might prove difficult to transfer the funds to your UK account once you have left Thailand. 3 1 1

You will not be applying for next extension so don't be concerned about maintaining the financial requirements. You also should consult banking finance forum to obtain advice on transferring and money you have in Thailand back to home country. Some folk use DEE money. Not possible with WISE. No, but if you wish to extend next year you might not be able to do it, as your balance has gone under the 800k baht within the three month period. However, that might not be actual in your case when moving permanently. Edited May 5, 2023 by khunPer

Popular Post CMBob
The banks don't inform Immigration of anything. Given you are leaving permanently, I'm wondering why your concern isn't taking the funds with you. If it was me, I'd transfer out the funds ASAP as you may very well be unable to do so from your home country.
MPoll
If you are leaving permanently then I would consider withdrawing all your Thai bank funds while you are in the country. Doing so from overseas may be more difficult.
