"fell At The First Fence" Competition

Featured Replies

There's the usual BS/repeats on the TV and I'm waiting for an upload to finish and I'm reading some innoccuous thread on medical charges in CM and I come across a pretty unintelligible post (stick the Chang remarks up your jacksie OK - the night is young) and then I notice the poster details on the left :

Eifuku

Newbie

Group: Banned

And I wondered. Is this a record?

Beat me if you can (of course you'll have to catch me first).

Banned on 7 posts? That's pretty impressive... :o

This is a competition NR !

No expressions of awe !

It's "I'll name that tune in 6" time.

Search !

:D

Could have been an account of a pre-banned person created just to get more words in - mods can usually jump on it.

I mean, i could get banned now. Create an account and get banned after first post - just depends what you want to say.

OK, I'm also in awe of the fact you found that, FS. I'm sure I could never do better than that. :D Is that OK?

How the h3ll do you search for "least posts before banned"? Can I google it? :D:o

Well actually SJ as self-appointed adjudicater of this competition I have to congratulate you on your research.

However whilst banned members with zero posts might make us question the laws of physics they are zero as far as this competition is concerned. (Discussion of immoderation issues in this thread may provoke severe hissy fits!).

Zero is an anomoly - the winner is going to be the first to find a banned member with one post.

I did check your last offering (massagelondon) and he seems to have an alter-ego (massagelondonuk) who is not banned.

Maybe the latter didn't ask for the "extras"?

Aaaah, c'mon, SJ. No fair! You just made me spit Chang all over my screen & then choke on the remainder' laughing! :o:D

How d'you get banned on no posts? Obvious spambots, yep. Offensive names, yep. Former (allegedly!) corrupt PM's, yep. But some of these names look OK... :D

sorry, I know what's that like. taxexile has ruined a monitor AND a keyboard of mine...

shame he hasn't posted since may 20th... but then again, it's save me from new peripherals...

Well, get down to the fractions now, FS. 1/2 a post. 1/8, 1/16, 1/32...

ie: I am writing to flame (and bing! the mods are on him before he can even pen the whole post). I've seen it done with horses.

How d'you get banned on no posts?

Easy. PM Wolfie and call him a ######. :o

Sorry Wolfie just a joke, I hope you've forgiven me. :D

How d'you get banned on no posts?

If the first post (spam, etc) leads to a ban it would show as 0 posts because most forums don't count posts that are in the deleted bin towards post counts.

How d'you get banned on no posts?

My guess is that they posted more, but all of their posts ended up being vanished evenually.

A buddy has intimate knowledge of one of those nicks and he's pretty sure it lasted at least a couple of weeks. :o

So which member has the hounour of the highest post count & then got banned? The highest I've seen is Tornado with 3000+ posts, who I think has been re-incarnatited as payboy.

How high of a post count did he get as The Gentleman? :o

I don't believe this forum software does that... as there's a poster who is showing nearly 500 post total, but if you go to review his actual posts that still exist, it's minus around 200 of that. Shame really that someone like that is almost to Bedlam status.

Highest post counts for banned members RDN - 6084 and Udon - 5856.

Both former moderators.

(no further discussion will be entered into)

(I didn't know Torny had been banned again. Anyone?)

"Invisible" posts still count but won't return on a search. Posts in the recycle bin don't but that's at the admin's discretion on all major forum software.

You mean when posts are deleted from a thread, they aren't really discarded permanently? Do they actually still exist but sit in a recycle bin? Sheesh, that's gotta be a big folder for this forum.... :o

There's two ways to remove a post. You can send it to the trash, which is actually just moving it to an invisible subforum, or "unapprove" it which keeps it in the thread but invisible to regular users.

A mod did offer up one time that "deleted" posts were still stored and accessible in a "mods only" forum.

Prolly like those anti-pornography campaigners who had a huge personal collection so they could "study the problem".

:o

The less you delete from your database, the more stable it tends to be. As for extremely bad content being posted, admins can permanently delete it.

I hear the expert in your tone of voice Vic and I'm certainly not going to quarrel with it , but how bad is extremely bad ?

No strike that please.

ah ok.. thank you for that clarification... something I didn't know about.

cdnvic, are you allowed to tell us that? Isn't that discussing moderation issues? Some of us have had threads closed for less... :D:o

No, it's technical info since a lot of forums share the same setup - or even software.
