Bags For Liquids At Suvarnaphumi

Hi, those bags that you need for liquids in your carry-on luggage at Suvarnaphumi do they hand them out at the security check-point or do you have to buy them yourself somewhere?

When I went, they searched my bag at the security checkpoint near the gate and gave me a clear plastic bag for the liquids/gel stuff. BTW, they also confiscated things like (large packs of) gelatine sweets

I just put all of my liquids into a clear zipper bag i have, but they transfered them into their own prefered one.

So long as you have all the liquids in one bag, even a washbag, they can easily check through and transfer them into the regulation plastic one they prefer.

Just remember to keep everything mini-sized. I actually transfered some things into mini bottles and even though they had no labels on them, security were fine about it.

Any clear, plastic, re-sealable, 1 quart/1 liter bag is sufficient. You can find these in most supermarkets here in Thailand. Some/many airlines offer them at the check-in pre-screening (where applicable), and they are offered at the liquid screening area just at the entrance to the security check-points at BKK.

Some brands of bags, e.g. Hefty, now advertise ("Meets airport security guidelines") their compliance.

Liquids should be in containers of 3 ounces/100 ml or less. Contact lens solution should also be 3 oz. (for carry-one) and the case with liquid & lenses does not have to be in the plastic bag.

For some carriers, UA and NW, these liquid restrictions have been in place since the new airport opened last September. For UA there is a mandatory gate screening of all passengers, and judging from the confiscated stockpile I'd say the BKK security folks are still on the learning curve.
