Doubts on my Retired Visa, please help me to understand, I am going to exit Thailand and I need to Know.

Hello everyone,

I am on retired visa "MULTIPLE ENTRY" till may 2024. I need to go out from Thailand, back to my country. My first 90 day report will be on June 10th but I will leave before that day, probably the 7th, with a flight.

Nobody is able to tell me how long I can stay out of Thailand, can I stay how much I want, or there is a limit of days before the expiration that is May 2024? Or I can even re- enter the last month before the retired Visa expire on May 2024?

Thank you so much for your help.

Much appreciated

Siddharta

There is no limit

if you come back after your permission of stay expires you would just have to apply for a new non-immigrant visa.

Thank you very much!

No problem. You have your multi entry, which allows you to leave and return as often as you wish without any further action

Don't worry about the 90 day report either. That will stop when you leave and start afresh from day 1 when you reenter. Have a good trip.

Great!

Miuch appreciated!

Thank  you

You can reenter until the visa expires.  You didn't say what day exactly.  But for example if it expires on 12 May 2024 you can reenter until 11 May 2024.

Even if you come back much earlier than that you could leave and reenter again just before it expires to get a new permission to stay date which would allow you another year from that date to stay in Thailand.  But once the original visa expires you need to get a reentry permit to keep your extension valid if you leave the country.

Read some of the posts in thread.

Hard to tell but the OP very well not require a reentry permit.

Visas such as non O-A etc do not require a reentry permit.

The OP has been zero helpful.

I had assumed that the O/P has done what many people do and confused an extension with a visa. You correctly state that a non O visa does not require a re-entry permit, but he clearly stated that he DID have a re-entry permit stamped in his P/P dated 20th March.

I based my initial answer on the strength of that comment, but for some reason that comment has now been edited out. Now I'm confused and won't pursue this topic any further unless the O/P comes back to us stating exactly what his current status is.

Up to you @Siddharta

So you just renewed for one year but now want to leave thailand for one year? Correct?

sometimes happen things that you cannot expect, otherwise I did not do the non O just now. Anyway I did not say I will stay away one year, I wanted to verify if I can really do what I want, with an extreme situation. But I understand you just wanted to have fun..without thinking too much...have a good day

Thailand's "retirement" visa extensions have one good point compared to similar retirement visas elsewhere, ie you can stay more than 6 straight months outside Thailand without losing your visa (provided you of course come back to Thailand on time to renew before the due date).

Thank you for your precious help, sorry but I was busy till now and I could not replay.

I checked well my Passport pages and I realized that I already had a Re-entry permit stamped on my passport, this is the reason I edited my post, because my question was redundant. I kept instead the second question.

By the way , this is my first time I obtain a long term Visa so I do not have the knowledge that you guys have. That is why I am asking.

What type of Visa do I have, I checked well:

1) there is a stamp on March 3rd 2023 that says NON "O" Retirement with expiration is May 31st 2023, then under it is written , before leaving Thailand please apply for a re-entry Visa (I think this is because at the moment it was still a "single entry " Visa.

2) the page after that has a stamp that says that my non "O" was USED and the stamp USED on It.

3) The page after that is a page where there is a stamp with written "Extension of stay permitted till May 1 2024 and it is dated 13 March 2023 Under this stamp there is tagain the invitation to do a Re-Entry permit before leaving Thailand , this because till now it is still a single entry situation)

4 the last stamp is in the followinf page and it says "NON IMM" RE-Entruy Permit , persons:ONE, Number of Entries: MULTIPLE, Lenght of Stay : 31 st May 2024

I assume it is an extension of a non "O" is that correct?

So I assume also that I already have the re-entry permit and it is not necessary to provide the insirance at the moment of entry but I will do once in Thailand again.

Is that everything correct and understandable?

Thank you for all  your interest and patience

The OP either has a valid non O-A or a ME non O retirement.

They are both visas valid for one year.

Very different from an extension from a non O retirement.

OP you do not need to do a 90 day report.

Your clock will reset on date of your reentry.

You can enter any time prior to expiry of visa..

OP, clarify what visa you have.

An important note for you @Siddharta. When you return to Thailand, make sure that you open up your passport and point out your reentry stamp to the IO. That will ensure that you get the right date stamped on the entry permit. They have been known make mistakes.

This is important, thank you!

I still don't understand if he has a visa or an extension of a visa? I hope he not gets in trouble because of the unclear question.

You got the last one in Thailand att Immigration or at an embassy in your home country? If at Immigration it is probably an extension. But maybe best if you post the stamps here as attached files.

Turns out you were correct.

Has extension from a non O retirement along with a multi reentry permit.

Some folk (not you) suggest that using term visa instead of extension doesn't matter.

It does.

Thank you, this is important. Appreciated. Thanks a lot!

Not sure using the term "visa" instead of "extension" is incorrect. After you secure an extension on a Non-O visa, you are in Thailand on a retirement visa.

On my transfered stamps, it reads "visa class NON-0" for the initial 3-month visa issued out of Thailand. It then reads "visa class NON-RE" for the extension up to May 2023. The "RE" in "NON-RE" stands for retirement doesn't it? So I don't see how "retirement visa" could be a misnomer.

The terms to keep separate are "visa" and "re-entry permit".
