Kristina Bozanich knew that this year’s Pride month event in the central Florida town of St Cloud would have to be modified to comply with a new law approved by Governor Ron DeSantis last month.

One in a series of bills signed by DeSantis this year that escalated his assault on LGBTQ+ rights, the Protection of Children Act prohibits minors from attending “sexually explicit performances” and authorizes the punishment of businesses that knowingly allow children to attend such events by issuing fines and suspending or revoking their alcohol licenses.

The inaugural Pride month event that Bozanich organized in St Cloud last year featured an open-air parade and a drag show performance.

Perhaps, but there is also a very hyper sexualized element in modern drag.  Exaggerated costumes and 'female' anatomy, lots of sexual innuendo, S and M, etc. It is adult entertainment.  This is far different from the cross dressing of Dame Edna or Mrs Doubtfire.  The two are not the same at all, and to conflate them is disingenuous.

The comment I replied to was about drag queens.  Hyper-sexualised content can be found everywhere and is not restricted to drag queens.

Why not?  Drag queens are part of British pantomime tradition, as are people like Danny La Rue, Lily Savage and Dame Edna.

Not explicit shows for children they are not....the pants tradition has no innuendo.
