Raid on Famous MADIX CLUB in Ratchada: No License, Operating Beyond Hours, Drug Usage Uncovered

Officers from the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) stormed the "MADIX CLUB" in Ratchada, Huai Khwang district, Bangkok. They discovered that the club was operating without a license, exceeding operating hours, and harboring three intoxicated tourists, leading to four serious charges.

 

Late on July 2, Pol. Lt. Gen. Thirasak Chantrapiphak, the CIB commissioner, along with Pol. Lt. Col. Piyanat Wessakoson, Pol. Lt. Col. Voraprat Wuttirak, and Pol. Lt. Col. Morodom Kwanmuang, the CIB deputy commissioners, commanded Pol. Lt. Col. (female) Paramaporn Patanawat, a CIB officer, together with a special police task force, to inspect the "MADIX CLUB" located on Ratchadaphisek 18 Road, Ratchadaphisek area, and Huai Khwang district.

During the inspection inside the club, a large number of revelers were found drinking and playing loud music. Before the authorities made their presence known, they ordered the music to stop and notified the establishment that they were operating beyond legal hours, reported Daily News.

Subsequently, they checked identification cards, urine samples of the tourists, and the club's license. It was discovered that the club not only operated beyond hours but also lacked a license. Moreover, urine tests confirmed the intoxication of three tourists, while Mr. Pramuk Kongsap, 56, was apprehended as the person responsible for the club and will face legal consequences.

Preliminary charges filed include: 1. Operating without permission, 2. Selling alcohol without a license, 3. Selling alcohol outside permitted hours, and 4. Selling alcoholic beverages beyond the designated time. As for the intoxicated tourists, they will be prosecuted for drug abuse under the Narcotics Act 2522.

So only the tourist, why not Thai's?

As for the intoxicated tourists, they will be prosecuted for drug abuse

Most Ratchada clubs are den for drug usage and operate beyond permissible hours. It was one of my go to place to buy drugs when I was in Thailand prior to Covid.

Was the club just opened last week and that was the first time anybody checked?

Or was the place already open for a long time and somehow some authorities "forgot" to check the license?

And do the authorities have to go to those places to check the licenses? Or could they just look into a computer somewhere to find out who has a license?

 

What will happen to the authorities who are supposed to control is venues have licenses? Will anybody of them be disciplined and maybe fired and maybe prosecuted?

One would normally ask how a club of that size can operate without a licence...

Well, the club was said to be "famous" the OP report...

 

So presumably it had been around long enough to attain that status of local "fame"....however brief that may have been.

 

Maybe the OP report should instead have said "infamous," which would have given a whole different meaning to things.

 

FWIW, Google Maps for the place only has one review (brand new), and all the posted photos were only from June.... And looks like their FB page was only created in April.

I think the brown envelopes got to the people responsible.  The issue is that there is a new set of sheriffs in town and BIG JOKE does not like brown envelopes or people that do not do their jobs.  

 

Als is not that area high in Chinese involvement?  

 

I think that the hi so areas are finally getting hit and the people that are running them are realizing the new world.

 

Remember this is no longer a military state woith MFP there is a definite anti-corruption bent.

It is surprising that only tourists were found intoxicated. This news will do wonders for the tourism industry. Is it a good guess that most tourists don't know bar closing times?
