Fire Phetchaburi Factory Fire Causes Over 10M Baht in Damages
Picture courtesy of KhaoSod In a significant incident yesterday, a fire tore through a plastic bag manufacturing plant in Phetchaburi, causing extensive damage estimated to exceed 10 million baht. The blaze erupted at 5 pm, sparking immediate alarm across the Khao Yoi district, and necessitating drastic measures to bring it under control, including the demolition of part of the facility. Lieutenant Colonel Sonthichai Chucherd of the Khao Yoi Police Station was alerted to the emergency, rapidly coordinating with Police Colonel Thip Khengkhoom and district chief Naruethat Muangsaen to mobilise a robust response. The involvement of more than 10 fire engines from the region and assistance from the National Disaster Response Unit and local rescue volunteers underscores the scale of the response effort. Upon emergency teams' arrival, the sight was daunting—thick black smoke pouring from the factory's confines and flames consuming the infrastructure. The plant, known for producing plastic bags for food packaging, housed significant amounts of combustible materials—particularly over 2 tonnes of thinner and alcohol—that exacerbated the fire's intensity and spread. The immediate challenge was accessing the fire's heart, prompting the dispatch of an excavator to breach the thick concrete walls. This strategic move allowed firefighters to employ foam-equipped fire engines to douse the fire effectively. Despite their swift actions, it took over an hour to control the blaze fully, with teams continuing to douse the site in water to prevent any resurgence. Deputy Governor of Phetchaburi Wanphen Mangsri and Virat Phenchan, head of the Phetchaburi Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Office, were present to oversee rescue operations and ensure the site was safely managed. The preliminary damage report indicates the financial toll is steep, surpassing 10 million baht (around US$305,655). Early investigations suggest that an electrical short circuit in an air compressor may have sparked the fire, although forensic police are set to conduct a thorough examination to pinpoint the exact cause. Fortunately, thanks to timely intervention and coordinated emergency response, no injuries or fatalities have been reported. This incident highlights the potential hazards associated with manufacturing environments, particularly those storing large quantities of flammable materials. Authorities are likely to review safety protocols and preventative measures in similar facilities to safeguard against future incidents of this magnitude. As the community rallies to support the affected company, the focus remains squarely on establishing stringent fire safety standards to protect both lives and livelihoods. Electric Vehicles in Thailand
I’m in the process of buying a BYD sealion 6, so a PHEV. As part of the deal I am being given a free home charger and installation. BUT, the BYD guy says I need a special cable to run from my fuse box to my charger and for a special stand for the charger to fix to. The latter because it won’t be fixed to a wall. So: 1. having googled, it seems that I DO need a special cable to handle the continuous power load. Fair enough. But does anyone know if the BYD people supply said cable at a significant mark up? Or is their pricing pretty competitive? 2. Does anyone know if their special stand is anything, well, special? I haven’t seen one in real life but from the picture it looks like plastic! 3. Just generally, do BYD use the charger installation exercise as a price gouging opportunity? Grateful for any insights on the above -

Crime French National Arrested in Pattaya for Sexually Assaulting 13-Year-Old Girl
I'm not surprised. I have 6. It's sad no matter what you tell them, letting them know of your wisdom and the problems they'll occur, they still do what their peers do, who might have no one to teach them right from wrong. People taking advantage of girls this young are very disturbed creatures that need a lesson taught. -

Fun Quiz > Covid-19 mRNA Vax harm denial - At which stage are you?
If correct use of the English language makes you feel inferior, I assure you that's more a reflection on you than on me. I've never claimed to anything beyond average when it comes to intelligence, however, your every response seems desperate to prove you're not.... Time and again, you're outclassed in argument, left floundering until all you can offer are limp insults and schoolyard jabs.... As I said before: bring reason, and you'll get reason in return. But until you manage that, I'll respond in the only manner appropriate – as one would to a clown who stumbled into a debate by mistake.- 1

If you found 12 million baht in a box near the trash, would you keep it?
Yes. Absolutely. My presumption would be that by turning it over to the police the last possibility in the world would be that it would find its way back to the it's rightful owner. However I'd be incredibly discreet about it, and not a soul would know about it, and the city that I found it in I would leave in the rear view immediately. Finders, keepers. -

Whats the point of the morning and afternoon alcohol law?
Would think, just an attempt to keep alcohol from students, considering the time slots. Pre & after school hrs.
