Trump’s dominance of GOP field has America bracing for a toxic campaign

Featured Replies

As America celebrated its independence, while divided on the true nature of its values, it also braced for a toxic presidential campaign likely to deepen its political trauma and again push the election system to its limits.

Donald Trump, for example, put on a July Fourth weekend show of force, highlighting his early dominance of the Republican race for president and the stiff task his rivals face in trying to thwart his bid to win their party’s nomination for the third time in a row.

The former commander in chief drew a massive crowd at a rally in the key early state of South Carolina on Saturday, which reverberated with his false claims about election interference and over his indictment for allegedly mishandling classified documents after he left office. But the raucous event in Pickens also showed the enduring power of his personality and feral political appeal to GOP base voters. And, coupled with his lead in primary polling, it should be a warning to Democrats that the most disruptive president in modern history has a realistic chance of a White House reprise that would likely be even more tumultuous than his first term.

I'm sure American voters will be inspired when Trump repeatedly indulges in his harangues about the stolen 2020 election.

We shall see but it certainly appears that donnie boy may well be in a jail cell soon unless some wimpy judges let his lawyers make a mockery of the judicial system by filing absurd motions over and over as he has done his entire life.  But one strong judge with the gonads to say ENOUGH is all it takes and bye bye donnie boy.

He is a cornered rat and will no doubt ramp up all his witch hunt BS to new levels and try to encourage his cult to take to the streets.

Sadly some will buy the BS despite a massive PILE of evidence provided mostly by his own staff and fellow republicans and of course from his own big fat mouth which he is incapable of shutting.

If it were indeed a "witch hunt" those witches sure do have a ton of evidence...just yelling "lock them up" is not evidence.  What Jack Smith has already revealed is EVIDENCE.

Incitement bumps look to be real but how will help in a General Election is what counts.

He'll claim he won again no matter what.

It's because the majority of republican primary voters are magadonians. A fairly hopeless effort unless 45 implodes in time due to multiple indictments.

Pray for America and the world that this fascist will not be the next President.

That's exactly right. He is a fascist. So is his main magadonian opponent DeSantis. To me it was obvious very early. Mussolini vibes for days. Now it's a mainstream understanding.

People who like Trump will make up his audience and not criticize him. There are also sensible, educated Republicans who find him disgusting. I just can't see him winning over the latter.

The vast majority of Republicans are maga. The rest will still mostly vote for him if he's nominated or not vote.

The real contest in the national are independents and also of course voter turnout.

Third party candidates might put Trump over the top. He can really win. Tragic but a real threat.

Not to mention a two-time loser with the American voters in both elections where he was the Republican candidate for President.

This is a crass, despicable excuse of a man. Anyone who puts up on his fake social media, "Eff Biden and eff you for voting for him" CANNOT be allowed back in to the White House. He's stoking the flames of division and his cult followers are eating it up with a big ol' spoon. This says everything you really need to know about him and his sheep.

Brownshirts don't wear brown shirts these day. But the doctrine, the vocabulary, the tactics and the hatred can't be hidden and denied.

Brown shirts and white hoods have been traded in for red hats.

That's sounds like very biased reporting to me, quite obviously the democrats control CNN!!!

Oddly in this rally Trump accused SC Senator Linsey Graham as being part of the Deep State. Linsey who fully supports Trump's campaign election and fawns over Trump. The crowd cheered Trump's accusation.

Settle down. It will be DeSantis after Trump grift enough money for himself and opt out of the race. It is all about the money for Trump and his gullible die-hards.

Yeah, I see a lot of Democrats criticizing Biden here.

There are a lot of things I do not like about Trump, and there seems to be more and more things everyday, but I still like Trump more than I like the left.

If Trump died today, by tonight, all the people attacking Trump would be attacking DeSantis.

In my opinion, the left is ruining my once great country and I'll hold my nose and vote for anyone I think will slow that down.
