guyfromtheweb2
Is there an alcohol ban on Tuesday August 1, 2023 (Asahna Bucha Day) and Wednesday, August 2, 2023 (Wan Khao Phansa or Buddhist Lent Day) in all of Thailand? If so, I assume this means all bars will be closed on those days. I see it mentioned in The Pattaya News here and on the WalkAbout Sports Bar page here but no where else in the news. Just trying to plan my upcoming holiday.
KhunBENQ
As answered in the other thread: both days Aug 1st and 2nd will have official alcohol ban. Nationwide of course. As far as I know all places with alcohol license will have to close/shutters down. Not sure about possible loopholes. Assume: there is NO law controlling weed. Simply removed from a drugs list. Where there is no law, there is no prohibition. roger101
There is a big difference between drinking at home and popping out to the local for a bevvy. People on holiday don't really want to sit in their hotel room drinking, and of course there is also the possibility that don't know until they go out in the evening. Regular drinkers who live here know exactly where to go to get served.

bbko
Here's my question on these "no alcohol sales" days, assuming I buy my alcohol ahead of time, is there and blowback (legal or from citizens) from drinking it out in the open, like while sitting on the beach?
