webfact Posted August 1, 2023 Posted August 1, 2023 On August 1, 2023, at 18:00, a Chinese businessman driving a Fortuner with a red license plate collided with a pedestrian in Samut Songkhram, Thailand. The victim, Miss Suphansa Chumsaeng, 22 years old, from Ayutthaya, was found lying face down on the right lane and was pronounced dead on the scene, reported Thai Rath. Rescue workers attempted CPR but were unsuccessful. The grieving husband of the victim, 40-year-old Mr. Wanglal Eiam-Oh, from Samut Songkhram, tearfully recounted the tragic incident. Nearby, a white Toyota Fortuner with license plate number Bangkok ก3432 was parked on the rightmost lane, severely damaged in the front. 47-year-old Chinese businessman, Mr. Chen Mingqi, asserted that he was heading back to Samut Songkhram from a vacation in Phetchaburi at the time of the accident. The police will further examine the incident to determine the true cause of the tragic accident. Her distraught boyfriend, who reported that she usually never crossed the road because her home and workplace were on the same side, was left in tears at the scene. At the incident’s location, authorities encountered a weeping 40 year old man standing next to the victim’s body. Nearby, a damaged white Toyota Fortuner with red plates was parked, its front side wrecked. The Chinese businessperson, 47 years old, who was driving the car, stated that he was heading back to Samut Songkhram from a relaxing trip in Phetchaburi Province when the victim suddenly dashed across the road. Even though he tried to dodge and brake, he was unable to avoid the fatal accident. Numerous highway elevated pedestrian crossings at major points such as hospitals, shopping centers, government buildings, etc. but no roadway surface crossings. Crossing Rama 2 means crossing something like six highway and four frontage roads. Not to mention highway center areas where new elevated highway construction would block any surface crossing. 2
