Former Democrat party leader Chuan Leekpai said today (Sunday) that the party must adopt a resolution, in accordance with the party’s regulations, if it wants to join the coalition led by the Pheu Thai party.

Meanwhile, another former party leader, Banyat Bantadtan, said they should focus on rebuilding and restoring the party’s image and popularity, instead of joining any Pheu Thai-led government, adding that, if the party’s executive committee decides to join the coalition, he would have to comply with such decision.

The party is currently split, with the north-eastern faction wanting to join the Pheu Thai-led coalition, and one member of the faction recently flying to Hong Kong to meet fugitive former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra, who is believed to still calls the shots in the Pheu Thai party.

A very sad time for Thai people, but then again...

every person who voted for change should have been on the streets before this debacle even got off the ground and insisted that MFP stay in and Pita is voted for PM

now you get what deserve... shafted.

The north-east faction of The Democrats?!!!

Doesn't the author of this piece mean the southern faction consisting of 19 of the 25 Democrat MPs left

I assume there is a Northeastern cacti as there are supporters there. I'm not sure how many would be happy joining with PT though
