A young woman, identified as Miss Praweenamai Baikloy, a TV news presenter, reported to the police after falling victim to a phone scam involving a counterfeit land department application. She revealed a loss of more than 1 million baht in unauthorized transactions.

Miss Praweenamai provided evidence of chat conversations and transaction records as she reported the incident to the authorities. The scam started with a call from an individual posing as a land department official, urging her to update her annual land tax information via a mobile app.

After complying and installing the app, she discovered over 1 million baht had been withdrawn from three separate accounts using the "Mobile Banking" app, reported Siam Rath.

The TV presenter disclosed that she had been working at her temporary residence in Phasi Charoen District, Bangkok, when the call came in. The fake officer provided accurate tax-related information and convinced her to install the counterfeit app on her Android device. The process, seemingly legitimate at first, lasted for over an hour without any transaction being completed.

As the conversation became increasingly suspicious, she decided to terminate the call and exit the app. Following further inquiries, it came to light that one of her credit cards, which was associated with the application, had been engaged for transactions that summed up to 620,000 baht. In addition to this, funds had been illicitly extracted from alternative accounts, culminating in an aggregated deficit exceeding the mark of 1 million baht.

Miss Praweenamai expressed her regret for not recognizing the deception sooner and emphasized the importance of staying cautious against scams. The incident underscores the significance of maintaining heightened awareness and adopting robust security measures when dealing with financial matters and sensitive information.

Is that what you got from the essence of the article that the woman 'is not poor?' and not he fact that she was defrauded not being vigil as to whom she has divulged important and personal information?

What a weird comment! So, just because she is not poor, it is less important that she got defrauded? Should we draw the conclusion that is your opinion?

plz, don't make a mountain out of a molehill!

saying that a woman is rich doesn't mean that it's OK to steal her money! the most appropriate response to my comments would be that "very few TV presenters can claim to have millions in their bank account, indeed". and that was exactly what i was underlining.

Ok, so if you think that is most appropriate, then you feel the need to tell people how to reply to your comment in an open forum. Good luck!
