Thai Airways welcomes 2 new A350 models for modern travel

Thai International Airways (THAI) boosted its fleet with two newly blessed Airbus A350-900 aircraft designed for the modern traveller. The up-to-date design boasts private video touch screens on every seat.

 

The Reverend Maha Ratchamongkol Muni, the assistant abbot of Wat Traimit Wittayaram, yesterday, August 9, presided over a blessing ceremony.

 

These two latest additions to the portfolio of Thai Airways Company Limited were the Airbus A350-900 aircraft, christened Phuket and “Petchaburi. The event was attended by Prachai Teerawattanasuk, the recovery plan administrator, Chaiy Eiamsiri, the executive director, management division and other employees.

 

The ceremony was held at THAI’s aircraft maintenance hangar at Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok.

 

Both Airbus A350-900 aircraft were designed to be contemporary, capable of carrying 334 passengers and divided into two classes. Business class has 33 seats and economy class accommodates 301 passengers.

 

The business class was specially designed for comfort with a pitch (the distance between rows of seats) of 44 inches, 180-degree flat-bed seats and unobstructed ingress-egress.

They generally don't eat I find, and they don't say nothing, and they never invade your armrests or legspace due to you know what, you know you've got a winner when you see a young double masker or N95er eyeing your row! I had one the other month, it didn't say a thing and even refused water, made themselves into the most compact little thing possible and they weren't small, to me it felt like an upgrade to premium economy...

I kind of agree with rbkk….. most would want free internet, his is a fair assumption.

 

I recall watching the Euros on a Qatar Airways flight… awesome time killer until in Indian air space where the service is interrupted.

 

The vast majority of flights these days see me using my iPad & watching downloaded series & movies….  Free, fast reliable and uninterrupted Internet would be a nice addition (usually is in business class but I don’t fly that all the time).

 

it’s all about the best way to kill time on a flight… The best I’ve found is flat-bed & a sleeping tablet… but I don’t get that luxury all the time.

No mention at all that the most important thing by far in these aircraft is the completely modernized design and electronic systems that are like a revolution compared to earlier models from a pilot's point of view. Touch screens are just a minor detail.

We'd be happier to see them resume direct flights from Brisbane to Suvarnabhumi rather than having to spend our time and money travelling and staying overnight either in Sydney or Melbourne.

Interesting why THAI bought more two-engined wide-bodied planes. Pre-pandemic, the airline had a fleet of 15 A330-300s with an average age of 11 years with some of these being very young aircraft. Not sure what's going to happen to these aircraft but I don't think think they are operation, nor do they form part of THAI's fleet on the website.

isn't Air Asia or Scoot flying BKK to Brisbane or Gold coast

Not exactly new as both aircraft are almost 4 years old and are from a batch of cancellations. One plane is ex Hainan airways but never carried out commercial flights. Cost per plane is estimated at 110,175,000 US.

With 330 seats there is plenty room for all the Senate and a few other cronies... just make it a one-way trip!

You can always clean a touch screen. How do you do that with all the other surfaces you touch on your way to that seat?
