Now you have many unsavory people owning clubs in England. A lot worse than Thaksin.

It’s all about money.

Thaksin’s purchase, and sale of Man City has led to them becoming the most successful team in Europe.

A hard pill to swallow for the bitter obsessives.

Just your opinion, nothing more.

So if he was found innocent.....would that mean they could try him again on his return.

Arrest warrants are issued for wanted people not only for fleeing people.

He wasn't though, are you wanting to start a hypothetical thread nowabout "what if...?" Had he been found innocent a) he wouldn't have fled the lynch mob and spent the last 10 years overseas away from his family and friends & b) the prosecutor would have the right to request a retrial (assuming they had new evidence to illicit a different conculsion)

I think it is a given that IF an arrest warrant is issued that person is wanted.......I seriously doubt they'd be issued for someone who wasn't wanted.

Taksin caused his own downfall .... why did he run for cover he is a convicted criminal and like any other person should go to jail on arrival.

I think when God was giving out brains you weren't paying attention, thought he said trains & asked for a slow one.

he was found guilty in his absence.....he is entitled to be tried again in person. Arrest warrants are issued for people who are fleeing or whose whereabouts is unknown.........he is returning and they know where he is.

It speaks volumes that when the Thai authorities asked other Police forces to arrest him and return him they declined as they also opined the charges against him were unproven & mostly trumped up.

He is not entitled to re-trials. Thai law only requires the defendant to present on the first day to hear the charges read against him but they amended to law to allow trials to proceeds without this formality in the event the defendant declines to attend the court because he has fled overseas.

There are also three pending cases against him.  If he returns, he can attend the trials in person.  According to normal standards he should be denied bail on these charges, even if he miraculously get royal pardons for his convictions, because he is a proven flight risk known to have multiple nationalities and passports.

Are you saying that Thailand has a different definition of Trial In Absentia ?

Collect him in prison van as he steps off the plane and transport him directly to the appropriate jail, can't see what all the drama is about.  If they're stuck, I could spare 10 minutes to organise how to get him off the plane into the prison wagon and drive out of the airport, they should be able to handle the rest of the journey by themselves.

The one who should be sent to prison, is not Thaksin, but Prayuth.

Please keep up, the discussion was about collecting someone from the airport - not who should or shouldn't be in jail.

Well if Prayuth goes to the airport they should collect him from there.
