For security reasons, Bangkok Remand Prison is suspending inmate visitations tomorrow (Tuesday), when fugitive former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra is scheduled to return to Thailand.

A large number of Thaksin’s supporters are expected to gather in front of the jail, which is on Ngamwongwan Road in Chatuchak district.

The prison normally allows visits from Monday to Friday from 9am to 3pm.

What rights are being denied?

He's a convicted criminal sentenced to 12 years in jail. No surprise / no big deal that his rights to visits are suspened for ONE DAY!

But of course hes' the reason why several thosand prisoners in that jail cannot have visitors today. Is that fair to them?

Will any fugitive criminal, who arrives after more than 10 years, be treated like this?

And if not, why not?

He is a criminal. Throw him into jail and treat him just like any other criminal. And after he is 10 years in jail, under those conditions, then maybe he understands that he should have behaved better.

We’ll see snow falling here in thailand  before thailand see’s tasking return. Don’t know what everyone is getting excited about. As a billionaire with a good few diplomatic passports, he can pretty much go and live anywhere he feels like, he’s not going to come back here to serve even a day in prison. This will be about the 32nd time he’s had people fooled saying he’s coming back and so it will continue.
