Anutin admits to difficulties in solving the Green Line train issues

Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul admitted today (Tuesday) that solving the Green Line train issue, which involves massive debt, concession contracts and legal disputes, is complicated and difficult and will take time to resolve.

 

This statement was made after Anutin met with Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt for a discussion on the BTS issue.

 

The Interior Ministry is involved because its agency, the Mass Rapid Transit Authority (MRT), invested in the infrastructure of the two extensions of the Green Line train, or BTS. One extension is from Bearing station to Keha in Samut Prakan and the other is from Mor Chit to Khu Khot in Pathum Thani.

Anutin was the health minister back then.

Good luck to him. The Land Department of Thailand is one of the most corrupt institutions in Thailand. I hope Anutin is able to clean up this agency.

It's not the Green Line that's in debt really, the debt is the 50 billion (yes, billion) Baht that is currently owed to BTS by BMA/MRTA for operating the extensions. It's all hideously complex and political (and I'm just an engineer).

What does the Public Health Minister chat with Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sitthipun after holding a talk on February 19? Back then Anutin was not Interior Minister and possibly Saksayam Chidchob might be taken into the discussion as Transport Minister? 

Whatever, this time they can only blame themselves and not the dirty farang!

Yeah, good luck with that 20 baht fare cap.

 

There has been a significant increase in the retail outlets within the turnstiles in many BTS stations. I wonder who's getting the rent?
