C-mon, if you having your best time in life at the moment, and later you brake up, you still had your best time in life up to that moment?

What happens after is then, and you getting new chances to fix what was the real problem leading to disaster.

Up and go and try again.

Living alone is not an option, not living in  bad relationships either, but I will never give up. Men live more healthy and longer with a good partner! Pure statistics

If your marriage ends after 15 years, could be 14 unhappy years

If you want to be a in a relationship with someone , then be in a relationship with someone .

If you want to be single, then be single .

Just do what you want to do and don't be concerned about anyone else

Wonderful response ????

I can understand why the OP is alone. Spouting all this constant dribble.????

That is all that is left on this forum.  Nonsense and piffle posted by fake accounts.

It is so very depressing and such an insult to the intelligence of the few remain real members who actually live here in Thailand.

I believe that living alone is an option, just the same as living with a partner is; whatever suits.

I do know of guys who stay in toxic relationships, because they know nothing else, or even how to fend for themselves, so living alone is not what they want, and I also know of guys here who are very "needy" and have to have a partner, because without them they are lost.

Different strokes for different folks.

Do not worry, I think most of us understand your intellectual capacity and capabilities.

At least you recognize click baits. All of them, so we don't have to. Thank you for your contribution

Most of the time I speak about my experiences and my needs as well expectations, and my ideas, unless there is historical and scientific proofs to lean on.

I know for most being in a healthy relationship is better both for physical and mental health.

As you say, it is not for everyone out of many reasons, and for some complex reasons.

Some is just better of single for their own sake and others

Got a relationship with my GF for 7 years now.

But at time she can be a pain in the backside, especially regarding financial matters. I think woman in general can never really be happy.

My GF got a good life (50.000 THB a month to spend on mostly herself and our daughter, 2 houses including one with a swimming pool, her own 3 rai farm, a car, no loans). I also got a condo recently which will be inherited by our daughter if would be gone in the future. But still only 40 years old, so hopefully that is far away ...

We do have a daughter together, so for the sake of our daughter it's better to stay together. But I wouldn't marry her (would have considered if she was as gentle as when we met, but people change).

Since a person is responsible for his/her own happiness and woman can never truly be happy while men certainly can (just enjoying working ,hobbies, friends), it can be better to stay single. You can have the upsides of dealing with woman without much of the downsides. In a relationship this can be harder to separate.

Can take years to break up, those divorced will probably vouch for that

For some it take years to brake up, and who to blaim? The relationship itself as an institution? Or the one who accept to stay in an unhappy unhealthy relationship?

Some can't just save themselves, and need coaching, unfortunate to many grasp bad coaches, and therefore the popularity of toxic characters like Tate gain popularity.

Women are generally looking for an ATM and yes they prefer some ATMs over others, but why be one? so stay single and see different women as required

With that view of women, yes, do them all a favor.... our thoughts create our destiny... you would enter any relationship with shallow worries about your little bag of coins...

"As required?" You say. Do you never find joy in female companionship? There are rewards to knowing someone a long time and sharing family and life events... and by 'long time' I don't mean overnight...  you can drown in shallow waters.

What are the pros and cons of both? Does location make a big difference? Is being single on Samui way better than Chiang Mai or Nakhon Nowwhere? Could you shag your way across small cities without using bargirls?

Cons being single in Thailand is the gap between your home country's culture and the Thai culture, including understanding of "the Thai way of thinking" and the need of a translator. It might also include the need for someone to care about your health and take care of you when needed.

However, where I live – it's Samui, which you also asks about – there are numerous singles and foreign couples. You can of course manage well without a Thai partner when using paid services like a law firm for many purposes – the law firm's front office can help with a lot, as my Thai lawyer said, when someone's toilet cannot flush it becomesmy problem to solve – or having a house keeper or domestic help some days of the week, who also can arrange with numerous kinds of external service, including shopping, finding handyman for small repairs, having sewers and tanks drained etc.

Pros being single is that you can live your life almost exactly as you wish – and use external help, as mentioned above – and if or when you wish a partner for some period, it's easy find – i.e., buy an often excellent service – at many places.

So, the difference between Samui or Chiang Mai and Nakhon Nowhere to my experience is – and I did consider if I could settle somewhere pretty close to Nakhon Nowhere, which I could, if I changed in the life-style I originally wished to live in Thailand – that in Chiang Mai and on Samui, you will easier find people that speaks farang-language; easier to find foreigner-service minded business like law firm and domestic help; and easier to find sociable gathering, if and when needed, with a wider group to choose from...????

Never get involved in any relationship with a local lady that has legal strings.

Date, enjoy, have fun, play (and pay of course)  all around. But make it so that you can just walk out on the next morning after a wild night of bunga-bunga.

Unless of course you wish to pay weekly to maintain either the jobless brother, the parents, the cousin, the farm, the car that suddenly broke down.....

Not to forget the risk of contracting some strange STD that elementary protection does not keep you safe...

If you don't understand the ATM analogy then you're a fool. As for me of course i have women friends, good ones too, I'm just happy being single. You could be one of those with a fake wife\girlfriend?

Indecisive, vague ambiguity in others can just be so darned annoying for me so I generally resist using hackneyed phrases like 'it depends', as a sure-fire....but - for my sins - I really can't respond to this query without using it to offer my honest viewpoint.

(Yeah....boring comment, I know ????, sorry.)

But will add this: to paraphrase the old nursery rhyme line......when Thais are good, they're very, very good, but when they're bad, they're wicked.

(Sums up my own experience actually, married twice to Thais. Former spouse: totally wicked.

Latter: couldn't wish for better.)
