Both former President Donald Trump and President Joe Biden have garnered their share of staunch supporters and vocal critics. But economically, which president has done better for America?

Podcaster Joe Rogan believes the answer is clear: Trump.

"It looked like [Trump's] policies were actually effective, and it looked like unemployment was down, business was building, regulations were being relaxed, more things were getting done," Rogan said during a recent episode of "The Joe Rogan Experience" podcast.

Rogan also commented on the ongoing Trump investigations.

"Now you have the intelligence agencies colluding to keep a guy from being president that was president during a time where the country was thriving economically," he said.

 

When the episode's guest Patrick Bet-David asked Rogan whether Trump would get his vote, Rogan replied, "He'd get my vote before Biden."

"I never thought that Biden was going to make it — I never thought that he was going to be functional," he added.

Take a closer look at the performance of both leaders in the realms of unemployment and regulations.

Unemployment

When Trump took office in January 2017, the unemployment rate was 4.7%, continuing a downward trend that started after the 2007-2009 recession.

By September 2019, the unemployment rate had dropped to 3.5%, the lowest rate since December 1969.

But the landscape dramatically shifted in early 2020 with the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. Because of lockdowns and reduced economic activity, the unemployment rate in the U.S. surged to 14.7% in April 2020.

Following this peak, the latter part of 2020 saw a gradual decrease in unemployment as the economy started to reopen.

By the time Biden began his term in January 2021, America's economic recovery was well underway, and the unemployment rate had come down to 6.3%.

In another example, the AG’s office pointed out how the Trumps’ simply slapped on a 30% “brand premium” at Trump National Golf Club in Jupiter, Florida. They also raised the theoretical purchase price of that business enterprise by tacking on $41 million in club memberships—even though those signups are reimbursable and under certain circumstances would have to be paid back.

The claim was 714. Is that not patently fraudulent? The county being wrong doesn't make it not fraud.

The charge was that Trump over valued his property, not that the country undervalued it. Do you consider there to be some chance that Trump's valuation was reasonable?

I don't disagree but that number will be irrelevant to the outcome of the case, right? And it was likely genuinely the county valuation so lots of rich peeple got the same low valuation. It's not the only piece of evidence. Even the realistic valuations don't approach what Trump claimed.

A hard to pin down guy in standard political terms. Leans libertarian, suppports drug legalization, endorsed Tulsi Gabbard in the 2020 election, a 2nd Amendment guy who also is in favor of universal health care.   

 

Also not afraid to talk to anyone on his show, a quality that more journalists should emulate.

Trumps main success would be through his lies and deception he succeeded in tearing the country mentally in half and created  millions of angry trumpers that don’t even consider science or reason.  Reaching across the aisle to come to an agreement is over.  Don’t forget the yahoos he put in his cabinet that were the antithesis of their powerful positions, for instance pro fossil fuel lawyer Scott Pruitt. 
 

Biden is old and doesn’t give the most energizing speeches but he has passed the inflation bill, chips bill to combat China giving the US a softer landing then Europe on the inflation front. Most importantly things are calm, reasonable and fairly normal.  
 

The government will probably not get funded end of month and shut down, and from who? The far right trumper Republicans in the house. Chaos is their playbook.  No Chance I would even consider giving my vote to a fraudster like Trump and thanks to him, the Republican Party is like a badly damaged ship lost in space.
