webfact Posted September 27, 2023 Share Posted September 27, 2023 The bureau of central investigation says fifteen police officers who fled when a gunman shot their colleague dead and injured another at dinner party in Nakhon Pathom will be charged this week with dereliction of duty, police eventually shot and killed the gunman in Kanchanaburi. The office added it would not allow any influential figures to interfere in the investigation into the murder of the police officer. Deputy National Police Chief Surachate Hakparn filed a complaint with the Criminal Court yesterday, alleging that the police warrant application concealed crucial information and tarnished his reputation by using excessive force during the searches of his home and other houses he uses. Thailand's Deputy Prime Minister, Somsak Tep-sutin, suggests that legalizing online gambling could boost government revenue. He also advocates the legalization of other forms of gambling, such as betting on football matches. Currently, both the government and the public do not benefit from gambling taxes. The Health Minister yesterday expressed his support for stringent regulations concerning the use of cannabis and opposes its recreational use. While the previous government had decriminalized marijuana, Prime Minister Srettha’s administration is committed to limiting its use exclusively for medicinal purposes. The initial phase is due to begin on October 1st and extend until September 30th next year. The second and third phases await additional cabinet approval. The Thai baht slipped to a 10 month low as other Asian currencies lost ground against the US dollar yesterday, the exchange rate is currently: 36 baht to one dollar.
