Here's what President Biden said in his rare Oval Office address to the nation.

His speech aimed to draw a link between the conflicts in Ukraine and Israel and he urged Congress to take action and pass an aid package supporting both nations.

Biden didn't actually say how much he was seeking in extra funding, but is expected to be asking for $100bn.

• "Hamas and Putin represent different threats, but they share this in common: they both want to completely annihilate a neighboring democracy."
• "If we don't stop Putin's appetite for power and control in Ukraine he won't limit himself to Ukraine."

Seems it's only dictators that are not backed by America that need to "pay a price".

It is always a good idea to support allies. While Israel did not officially support its allies militarily in Vietnam or Korea or Iraq (Desert Storm), they sent thoughts and prayers. They have always amply proven that they are true allies and deserve help.

While I am very aware of the U.S. support for the likes of Saddam, Noriega, Batista, Perón, etc., and join you in condemnation, that does negate that there are fights necessary at times. Unilateral invasion of a sovereign nation comes to mind, whether that be North Korea or Russia. Rifles and RPGs? Good thing there were not missiles and drones launched during the initial Hamas attack!

American registered Democrat here. While I would prefer a different political contest for November 2024, there is not a viable alternative currently. The Republican Party seems determined to destroy itself. Oh, that tax bit? Still, Hamas hardly poes an existential threat to Israel whereas Russia clearly does to Ukraine.

With the NeoCons fully in charge of the US State Dept expect a few more war fronts started before Biden leaves the stage. Blinken, formerly of the NeoCon CSIS, will not be satisfied until Ukraine is fully destroyed to avenge Kyiv's treatment of his great grandaddy in 1904. Nuland, 2nd in command and family member of the nasty NeoCon Kagan clan, has plenty of Republican friends from her years with the G.W. Bush admin to keep that bunch on side.

I was eluding to your tax dollars being handed out overseas.... instead of being spent on infrastructure at home where it's obviously needed...

They could also spend those billions on medical aid for those in need of hospital treatments, making it more affordable for most.
