Canada -Tundra Wonderland?

Like most Americans, I never think of Canada one iota -even less so since Bachman Turner Overdrive had their acrimonious split.

I have been to Vancouver and Montreal. Nice 3 day towns (at the outside) with tremendous bagels. And Nova Scotia, which makes Maine look shabby.

Net Impression: Socialist Ohio with one tenth the black people. Def. heavily blah (the no black people problem), but the locals are smarter than Americans.

I'd retire there if I could, since Canada is like the dull milk of magnesia antidote to Trumpism.

If a one bedroom apartment cost $500 in Toronto and you could date Thai transplants on a budget, would you?

"Trudeaunism" is not considered any better by many....

But I would definately go anyplace in a big canadian city one day, when I decide to purchase finally one of those nice Canada Goose winter feather quilts !!...far cheaper there for sure...

What's wrong with a little 'trudging across the tundra' .. as I hear 'St Alfonzo' is nice that time of year.

Let me guess.... a disgruntled Canadian that calls Thailand his "home".

Thailand also has one of the worst climates in the world. I wonder how would you be able to live without air-conditioning?

UK, Ireland, Norway, Iceland, Sweden, Finland and numerous other countries all have worst weather than Canada?

Yeah, I don't think so.

I grew up in Yugoslavia before I moved to Canada. The weather is in fact very similar to Canada with 4 full seasons.

Nonsense post.

some people don't mind the cold, but a lot of people from canada do spend their winters in florida.

there have been budget low-cost airlines that have popped up during covid.

i wonder if the trend in the future is towards lower cost flights.

if that's the case, where you call permanent "home" becomes less relevant as you can fly out more cheaply and you don't need to stay trapped in one place all year.

In your case, based on your posting history, you shouldn't overthink it. Just move back to Canada and you can fly out of there a month or two each year.

Staying in any one place all the time is boring.

Well, my post has nothing to do with going back to Canada and trying to justify it. I just like to keep things a bit realistic. There are plenty of things that are wrong with Canada, but for some reason weather and healthcare come up here a lot and that is simply not the true.

Based on your posting history, you seem to be agonizing over the decision to move back.

And also seems like you are highly impressionable to comments from people on here.

Not sure why you are defending Canada's climate. It can be rather harsh. But then again, some people don't like tropical climates either.

Healthcare is a major consideration to move back as you won't have to deal with the issues of private healthcare.

If you have some money in your pocket, you can fly out of wherever you live a month or two each year and add a bit of excitement to your life.

Each to his own. The weather in Thailand is perfect for me.  I live here fan only/ no aircon. You won't find a $500 per month apartment in Toronto.  Boring, politically correct, expensive, housing hard to find, and bad weather are common complaints about Canada.  Good food, safe, free schooling for kids, outdoor activities, mostly free healthcare (maybe long wait times), and can make money are the upsides.

Anywhere in the world, where I'd have to plug my car in, so I could go into a vendor for a meal and a couple pints, is way to cold for me.   If the oil has a chance to start freezing, then I don't need to live there.

Love playing in the snow but 15-20-30° below 0 with or without wind chill factor .....

...  NO THANKS

But you didnt start this thread, so you are probably content staying in Thailand, so if it ain't broke don't fix it.

These types of threads seem to pop up quite often. And for people who are on the fence, these threads probably add to their confusion since there are so many conflicting opinions.

Latest market rate from rentals.ca is $2,700 a month for a one bedroom apartment in downtown Toronto.

Winters are depressing. Sometimes 2-3 weeks with no sun. Forget about finding a decent looking woman over 45, most will be 10-30 KG overweight.

Currently there are lots un-housed immigrants in Toronto living on the streets and in public parks. The issue is that government allowed 500,000 immigrants in the country and they can settle wherever they want. Many are refugees, without sufficient funds to live in Toronto.  Many new immigrants want to live in Toronto because it's a big city, and has virtually every ethnicity in the world. This massive influx has also affected government services, especially medical care, which is free and run by the government. Lots of other issues in Toronto.

To ask people what they think about Canada.

The only person in the entire world who gets butt hurt about that is snowflake-you.

I thought it was just to show your bigotry of blacks & Americans.  As the only thoughts you expressed.

But that's just me, maybe I misread your intention 😎
