Why don't they also report the general age ranges of those hospitalized in serious condition and those requiring intubation to breath because of COVID?

Also, why don't they provide any details about the COVID death of a 0-4 year-old that was reported at the end of last month? Or the COVID death of a 20-49 year-old that was reported for the past week?

Rightly they assume that by now everyone should have understood that those most likely to die from Covid are the sick and elderly. So get vaccinated if you belong to that category.

BTW, hope you're not suggesting you think it's fine to write off folks in their 60s and 70s or older, and consider their deaths from COVID nothing to be concerned about, when in many cases they would have had years more to live?

That demographic, BTW, certainly includes a goodly portion of the members and participants in this forum, myself included!

2 out of 12.

so you are wrong john. most of the deaths are of elderly in the stats.

No, I never said or meant to imply that the elderly aren't most of the reported COVID deaths here. They are...

I merely pointed out, they're not ALL or the ONLY reported COVID deaths here, which is correct. Sorry if my phrasing didn't properly convey that intended message.

I think that pretty much shows that COVID could be a small risk for the ELDERLY, but that it is a Big Nothing-burger for the younger and working-age population.

You're talking about risk only on the basis of Thailand's relatively few official COVID deaths -- which past studies have shown to be undercounts to the actual levels of likely COVID deaths.

And for the record, Thailand among its official COVID deaths has reported one involving a young child and another involving a 20-49-year-old just in the past month. No details about the particulars of those cases.

But that assessment doesn't take into account the much larger numbers of serious COVID hospitalizations -- 588 current as of last week, and 14,937 total thus far for the year.

And for that group, the Thai MoPH doesn't publicly release any age or other demographic information. So we don't really know the details of just whom COVID is making seriously ill in Thailand.  I'd guess the elderly predominate there as has generally been the case elsewhere in recent times, but to what extent younger people are involved as they have been elsewhere in smaller numbers, we simply don't know.

So just keep pushing fear than, well done.  Makes sense that those who passed away were elderly and in poor health, also makes sense that those who are seriously affected are also elderly and in ill health.  What doesn't make sense is that those who are seriously affected are young and heatlhy, but nevermind that, keep pushing fear.

The elderly make up the majority of COVID hospitalizations and deaths these days, even up to two-thirds or so for COVID hospitalizations, depending on the source. But that still leaves a lot of younger people in the remaining one-fourth to one-third of the population who still are getting sick from COVID.

Per the U.S. CDC:

"During the first seven months of 2023, adults 65 years and older accounted for 63% of hospitalizations and 88% of in-hospital deaths from COVID-19."

That means people under 65 accounted for more than one-third of U.S. COVID hospitalizations during that period, and 12 percent of in-hospital COVID deaths.

That’s exactly right. Almost anyway. I’d say get vaccinated if you feel the need to do so. A 70 year old who’s spelunking and running thai marathons may not want to for example. See we can almost fully agree when you say sensible things.

The Thai MoPH website has a somewhat surprising breakdown of cumulative COVID deaths reported thus far in 2024 by region and province (see the right column below):
