Israel strikes on Palestinian refugee camp spark anger

Deadly strikes on a Palestinian refugee camp have fueled another wave of anger, renewed war crimes accusations and raised questions about the military strategy Israel is using as it prosecutes a war on Hamas that has racked up thousands of civilian deaths.

Israel says the strike this week in the city of Jabaliya, which killed dozens, targeted a command center against Hamas, the Palestinian militant group that raided southern Israel last month, killed more than 1,400 people and took more than 200 hostages.

But the strike has met fierce criticism from human rights groups and Arab countries, because Israel is bombing densely populated areas in its campaign to defeat Hamas.

“I don’t think Israel should be bombing any civilian areas,” said Imad Harb, the director of research and analysis at the Arab Center for Research and Policy Studies. “I don’t see what is accomplished, honestly. I don’t think anything is going to be accomplished by bombing more civilian areas, by creating more craters in the ground.”

The refugee camp is located in the northern Gaza city of Jabaliya, which has a population of more than 170,000. Israel had told people in the north of Gaza to move southward, but that is difficult for much of the population.

Harb said the longer the war goes on with such a high civilian cost, the more likely Israel will face calls to stop the bloodshed, noting that President Biden has called for a “humanitarian pause” to get aid to battered Gazans.

“I think American politicians and the administration are seeing that — not only in the United States but across the world — this is not a popular war,” he said, assessing U.S. officials may come to the conclusion that “we cannot go on like this.”

…especially when Hamas impedes the citizens from escaping.

They may as well, Israel’s going to blow them up anyway.

If they were Hamas terrorists they'd get a safe place in them tunnels. Price of admission, of sorts.

Israel PM has made an announcement that if Hamas releases all the hostages then they will stop.

Hamas has not responded - if they do IMO they will demand that Israel stops and leaves first (so we can take back control of Gaza).

Israel will not accept - they are going to destroy Hamas and this time, and they will not withdraw until it is done.

Hamas only has to release all the hostages and the whole world will demand Israel stops.

It is all on Hamas - all of it is on Hamas.

Accidentally?

If it was “only” 10 or 50 or 100

I could perhaps buy that….

But over 4,000.

Come on, not even the most seasoned Nigerian scammer would attempt to sell such an outrageous and ridiculous mound of nonsense.

The IDF and Hamas operate on the same level of inhumanity.

At last, sign of some sense from at least one politician in the US:

Let’s face it: This has gone on for decades,” Durbin said on CNN. “Whatever the rationale from the beginning, [the situation] has reached an intolerable level. We need to have a resolution in the Middle East that gives some promise for the future.”

Is that AOC?  Or one of those other pro-Islamic pro-Palestine idiots in the Democrats??

Exactly how can you have a 'resolution' - when one 'side' demands nothing less than the total destruction of the other side.

I mean it is not like the USA UN etc etc have not tried to do this for the last 50 years.

Israel has been maintaining a 'peace' by the threat of over-whelming force if the terrorists did anything really bad - which they just did.

By the way - Israel is still 10s of thousands of rockets short of the number that Hamas has fired into Israel over the last 20 years.

Hamas went far too far in their 'protest' and they are going to be destroyed for doing that - and yes it is a warning to Hezbolla etc etc.

Israel has officialy declared war on Hamas - and it is Hamas that is causing any civilian deaths - by hiding behind them.

You are an ******* if you believe any of the PR being sent out by the Pro-Hamas media.

Just like they blamed Israel for the bomb that hit the hospital, when it was a Hamas accident - everything they say is a lie.

They are all lies designed to make those silly people in the west who think they are merely 'independence fighters' seeking their own land.

They are Islamic terrorists and what they want, and always wanted, is the removal of Israel and all Jews from 'the river to the sea'.

Not one Jew lives in Gaza - that is a death sentance - but there are plenty of Aram Muslims in Israel living in there peacefully.

These are not 'normal' Muslims who want peace - they are murdering Islamic terrorists - and you are a silly westerner they love to fool.

Might be of some personal value if you were to turn your searing insight onto you’re own positions and possible gullibility.

Perhaps tone down the raging prejudice first though, it tends to impede rational thought and educational prospects.

Are you a military expert? Do you have a much better way to conduct a war in an urban setting such as the Gaza Strip?

So all the dead ones aren’t terrorists?

Why did Israel kill them all then?

I didn't say all, you implied it. I'm sure that Hamas men that dared pop their head out and were spotted were bombed.

People get killed in wars. That includes civilians and children.

That you treat it as some novel, unheard of thing is disingenuous, if expected.

Found a fascinating article from Honest Reporting. The photos in it show very clearly that none of the Hamas cowards were wearing any kind of discernable uniform when they were committing their crimes.  So, given that, how exactly is Israel to separate the Hamas from the innocent civilians? The terrorists revel in blending in with their own people, happy to make martyrs out of the unwilling.

Here they are breaking in to the Kibbutz Kfar Aza, the scene of some of the more horrific atrocities from October 7:

In the near future, Israelis will be queueing up to disown the crimes their government is currently committing.

Netanyahu is a (politically) dead man walking, ditto his right wing nutter filled coalition.

Israel is about to lurch left and rejoin civilised society.

Those are not Hamas men. That's part of the mob of 'ordinary' Gazans who came in after the initial attack.

You can notice not many (or maybe none, in this pic) is armed.

Yeah, just casual day tourists.

Maybe curious to see a real dead Jew in the flesh, perhaps steal a few things, maybe desecrate a corpse or two. You know, innocent civilians that need protecting.

Ah, don't get me wrong - they did their fair share of killing (atrocities included), looting and burning. Just not Hamas men, that's all. Or think about it this way, how low down the scale you need to be for Hamas not to recruit you?

And of course the IDF never try to destroy ANY civilian areas as that would be a war crime and a crime against humanity.

Actually it is on both sides and not just on Hamas. The main responsibility lies with the leadership of BOTH sides.

Each sides leaders can and do have the responsibility to endless, pointless unnecessary slaughter, as do the leaders of China, the EU, Iran, Russia, the UK and the USA, in alphabetical order.

History will show that the woke progressives supporting Hamas in their 'fight' were just ill informed delusional over-educated idiots.

Wrong.  Both Ways. All Ways.

It is not 'endless, pointless unnecessary slaughter' - it is a War - And Hamas started that War.

It is not the responsibility of the World Leaders to stop all Wars - yes they should and do try - but it is not their job/responsibility.

The leadership of Israel has offered a means of stopping - the Hamas leadership has rejected it - release the hostages !

Last night Hamas showed on video a 70+ woman and a 13 boy - terrified - they said stop the invasion or we will kill them.

THAT is terrorism - Thai is NOT what Israel is doing.

It is ALL on Hamas now - they have a way out to stop them and their people dieing - it is ALL on them.

THE biggest Hamas apologist on this forum - You mate.

Unbelievable how you always say just enough to not actually criticise Hamas - while expousing smooth thoughts of hatred regarding Israel.

I have seen many smooth talking ******** in life - they always in the end get cut to pieces (often by themselves).
