Popular Post Social Media Posted November 6, 2023 Popular Post Posted November 6, 2023 Former President Obama’s senior adviser David Axelrod on Sunday suggested President Biden drop out of the 2024 presidential race in the wake of a new poll showing the incumbent trailing former President Trump. Pointing to a New York Times and Siena College poll published Sunday, Axelrod wrote on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter: “It’s very late to change horses; a lot will happen in the next year that no one can predict & Biden’s team says his resolve to run is firm.” Arguing Biden is “justly proud of his accomplishments,” Axelrod said Biden’s poll numbers will “send tremors of doubt” through the Democratic Party. “Not ‘bed-wetting,'” but legitimate concern, Axelrod wrote. “Trump is a dangerous, unhinged demagogue whose brazen disdain for the rules, [norms], laws and institutions or democracy should be disqualifying,” Axelrod wrote in a separate post. “But the stakes of miscalculation here are too dramatic to ignore.” “Only @JoeBiden can make this decision,” he continued. “If he continues to run, he will be the nominee of the Democratic Party. What he needs to decide is whether that is wise; whether it’s in HIS best interest or the country’s?” The poll found Biden trailing Trump in five out of six battleground states including Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada and Pennsylvania by margins of 3 to 10 percentage points among registered voters. In Wisconsin, Biden was ahead by 2 percentage points, according to the poll. FULL STORY 4 5

Morch Posted November 6, 2023 Posted November 6, 2023 Who's gonna be the replacement candidate? How will he/she fare against Trump? 1

He was just on a trip to China where Xi rolled out the red carpet for him, much better than any other recent US diplomat or politician. Purely coincidental I'm sure. Gavin did such a great job and continues to do a great job in California, just ask everyone in San Francisco. 2

Eric Loh Posted November 6, 2023 Posted November 6, 2023 So much talents on the Dem side compare to the Maga GOP. Gov Gretchen Whitmer, Senator Cory Broker and Pete Buttigieg are possible replacement and can easily out debate any current GOP hopeful. 1
Popular Post Yellowtail Posted November 6, 2023 Popular Post Posted November 6, 2023 Tough to get rid of Harris. Probably Newsom, but I'm hoping Michelle. 1 1 1
Popular Post billd766 Posted November 6, 2023 Popular Post Posted November 6, 2023 IMHO I think that he should retire at the end of this term. President Biden is 18 months older than me and I am surprised that he can still be the POTUS. He will be 82 by the 2024 election and, if he wins and lives on to complete the next term he will be 86. It doesn't matter how good his doctors and hospital are, you cannot argue with age. At my age and at his age your body slows down as do your mental faculties. Many times I havr gone to do something and completely forgot what iy was when I got there. Not a big problem for me as I usually remember what it was a few minutes later. But I am not the leader of the most powerful country in the world, on duty for 8 hours a day and on call 24/7/365. If I make a mistake it doesn't matter very much, but he makes a mistake it could be disastrous for the world. There ought to be a law stating that ALL politicians should retire on or before their 65th birthday. 2 1

I think an excellent candidate would be Gretchen Whitmer, the popular governor of Michigan. And, even though it shouldn't make a difference, it doesn't hurt that she's easy on the eyes. Right now she's co-chair of Biden's reelection campaign. Which would make it awkward for her to rebel, but should Biden decide to step aside, would be a boost. 1 1

bendejo Posted November 6, 2023 Posted November 6, 2023 Booker won't hold up to the scrutiny that he would be subjected to. The right-wing media has been making Michelle O. the ominous threat, and I like that, it gives them something to write about. If someone knew just a little bit about her they would know she hated living in the fishbowl, so no chance of her running. The exception would be if Biden was forced out of the race for health reasons, perhaps the party would put a big lean on her. Of those mentioned above, Harris and Booker would be the worst IMO. Axelrod used to be the very picture of a sleazy salesman, always the blue blazer. And the mustache -- can't trust him since he shaved it. 1
EVENKEEL Posted November 6, 2023 Posted November 6, 2023 The dems have to be realistic. They don't have anyone who could get more votes than biden. Except maybe Joe Manchin, alot of the GOP voters could go his way.
Tug Posted November 7, 2023 Posted November 7, 2023 It’s ageism pure and simple it isn’t performance if a person is rational he’s accomplished one heck of a lot especially in these divisive times.personally I like the experience he’s one magnificent old duffer in my opinion.I think a way forward could possibly be picking a new running mate.Harris would be fine in my estimation if called but I know she’s unpopular and like it or not there is alot of misogyny out there unfortunately all that being said the stakes are to high to risk another Trump disaster 1 1

This comment shows how deeply ingrained sexism is among the right wing. Kamala Harris would be screeching? And why the mention of "household"? Because a woman's place is in the home and that's where you imagine her spending her time? 1

Given Harris' voice, screeching is appropriate. Her ingrained sense of entitlement would make it happen. Her household is where she would bitch at her husband about her perceived feelings of injustice at potentially being thrown aside for another WOC as the democratic nominee. Is that so strange? Oh, and did I mention that I think Nikki Haley would be a fine nominee for the GOP? You can add that to your litany of my sexism... Edited November 7, 2023 by Hanaguma 1 1

I've looked at youtube videos and have seen no evidence of screeching. And now you're imagining her in a situation where "she would bitch at her husband'? Not complaining to political associates and such but bitching to her husband. It's like you're purposely engaging in a parody of yourself. 1
