Shock horror, protests which are an inextricable part of public political discourse in British democracy are ‘political’.

A refresher, the rights to freedom of assembly, freedom of association and freedom of speech.

Yeah....so it was basically like one of them summer of love protests, then?

Remember those previous comments about rose-tinted-glasses? That.

Good on the Metropolitan Police chief Mark Rowley for standing up to the IMO vile home secretary and Sunak who apparently want to ban any support for Gaza. Good to see them with egg on their face

It certainly didn’t turn out to be the violent hate March those opposed to the  protest insisted it would be and that rightwing extremists would have turned it into if the Police hadn’t acted so decisively.

300,000 people demonstrated, a tiny fraction broke the law and the police are taking action against them.

Met Police Chief Mark Rowley’s decision to permit the protests and focus attention on dealing with those individuals breaking the law has been vindicated.

Now time to hold Minister of State Braverman accountable for her dog whistle to the rightwing extremists.

How do you know if it was 'a tiny fraction'?

There are social media clips all over with disturbing images, comments, chants and so on.

I'm not saying all protestors were at it, but not quite what you try to sell either.

I’ll go with the Police reports if you don’t mind.

Social media isn’t exactly a reliable source:

Yes, you can try and discredit all available footage by citing one example, but that would be hypocritical considering your own previous comments about tarring all protestors for the actions of few etc.

No, I rely on the official Police reports that are traceable to the Met Police Force.

Reliable, traceable and accountable.

Not social media that is non of the above.

Oh and the one example I have cited is an example of manipulated video being maliciously used and spread amongst rightwing extremists and that relates directly to the issue of the subject demonstration.

So forgive me, I’ll stick with the Police reports.

Thanks for making my current point, and the previous one about simply repeating messages on loop.

Not much of a discussion, but guess that's not what you're after, is it?

Why did you state this then:

"The police should prosecute him for hate speech.

I hope they do."

In response to a social media report showing the hate filled Nazi remarks

OK so I repeated the message.

Sometimes it’s necessary.

But you said you don't rely on social media, make your mind up, there are numerous similar clips like that and the police view them to, that's how they catch many of the suspects

More footage from these hate marchers. Why do so called peace protesters associate themselves with these Hamas supporters.

It’s reasserting my points of view, which I feel, in the face of numerous allegations made by others that I support (insert various slurs), I need to repeat.

It’s a very effective guard against slurs and misrepresentation of my views.

Forgive me for employing it.

When it's almost all you have on offer, it losses it's effectiveness.

When it's a blanket answer for everything, the message is lost.

Peace protesters attack far right mob, this is what tomorrow's papers will be saying anyway.

I will make no response to these links.

Rishi Sunak has condemned "violent, wholly unacceptable" actions by far-right groups and "Hamas sympathisers" after protests and clashes in London.

About 300,000 pro-Palestinian protesters marched to call for a ceasefire, in the biggest UK rally since the Israel-Gaza war began.

Counter-protesters made up the "vast majority" of 126 arrests on Saturday, police said.

Scuffles first broke out shortly after 10:00 GMT as police attempted to stop a crowd of people carrying St George's flags marching along Embankment towards Whitehall where the Cenotaph - the 103-year-old war memorial - is located.

Officers faced aggression from some of the counter-protesters - who include some far-right groups - near the Cenotaph, the Met said.

The group, which had been chanting "England 'til I die", pushed through the police barrier, with some shouting "let's have them".

However, a two-minute silence held at the Cenotaph at 11:00 GMT to mark Armistice Day was observed "respectfully", police added.

More than 80 counter-protesters who "tried to reach the main protest march" were arrested to "prevent a breach of the peace", police said.

Ten others were arrested for other offences including possession of offensive weapons, affray, and possession of drugs.

Scotland Yard said many of the counter-protesters arrested were connected to football hooliganism, and some of them had previous convictions for football violence.

At one point the march, organised by the Palestine Solidarity Campaign, extended from the Hilton Hotel in Park Lane to the US Embassy in Nine Elms - a distance of roughly 2.5 miles. Organisers believe 800,000 people attended but police estimated 300,000.

The despicable actions of a minority of people undermine those who have chosen to express their views peacefully."

He said the clashes "utterly disrespects" the honour of "our Armed Forces", saying "that is true for EDL thugs attacking police officers and trespassing on the Cenotaph" and also for "those singing antisemitic chants and brandishing pro-Hamas signs and clothing on today's protest".

No major protest is scheduled to take place on Remembrance Sunday, although the policing operation will continue with some 1,375 officers deployed amid commemoration events in the capital.

I doubt it ever had any chance of being received, well not in some quarters anyway.

For now I am delighted the right to peaceful protest has been upheld, that people engaging in criminality have been arrested and/or are being sought by the police and that the Minister of State who blew her dog whistle to the rightwing extremists has questions to answer.

I have to admit it wasn’t all good news for me yesterday.

The Spurs lost, 2-1 to the Wolves.

But you can’t win ‘em all.

It wasn't all good news for the hundreds of volunteers that would have been selling poppies throughout London but instead had to avoid there usual locations. Or the ones deliberately intimidated by the protesters.

Four extra time goals conceded in the last two games and you were five points clear at the top  last week end
