Twelve Thai nationals who were held hostage by Hamas have been freed, said Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin on Friday night.

The Thai Foreign Ministry has confirmed the news, and Thai diplomats will be picking them up, Srettha said in his X. The names of the freed individuals will be disclosed in the near future, he said.

Twenty-five Thai nationals working in Israel were held hostage by Hamas following the October 7 attack.

Meanwhile, the Thai Foreign Ministry stated in its statement that its Embassy in Tel Aviv was alerted about the release. The 12 Thais had already entered Israel through Rafah, and at the time of the press, they were en route to Shamir Medical Center (Assaf Harofeh) to receive medical care.

Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin will be taking credit for this, unaware that Thais are considered worthless as bargaining chips in a stand-off.  I note that of the others released, at least FIVE were over 75 & at least one over 80. Hamas is now reaping the whirlwind.

The US President is claiming credit for this. Unbelievable that the guy who could stop the Genocide is claiming that he is doing something good. The fool can't even speak these days without a teleprompt.

Ten Thais were released, not 12. Another example of impatient news of not getting the facts straight.

Here is an idea, how about the PM asking the Hamas for compensations for the murdered workers and for pains, suffering and loss of income of those who were kidnapped? or this is unthinkable when you dealing with terrorists?

That would be great, though good luck with having the international community doing anything about it and holding hamass accountable given that in large part the so-called humanitarian funding/aid goes right into the hands of hamass and have made their leaders billionaires.

I doubt the US president has any influence on getting Hamas to drop it's implacably stated aim of genocide of the entire Israeli population and the wiping out of the Israeli nation. There can only be one logical response to a foe whose stated aim is your annihilation, and that's to destroy or incapacitate that threat

How’s this for an idea, stop chucking out negatives and be thankful for small mercies! Another four Thais have just been released. It is fantastic. They could have all been slaughtered.
