'Where you come from? What your Job? How long you stay Thailand?'
just human nature, isn't it? My wife has plenty and yet she still looks at things and thinks about the profits to have been made... it doesn't mean she is not happy w/her choices... I guess it is human nature to want more. And I think it goes on everywhere... -

Finance Foreign Nationals Face Account Bans in Bangkok Bank Crackdown
Here's the problem, correct me if I'm wrong, for many non O visas you need to show funds, in a Thai bank, but, according to this article, Bank of Bangkok won't allow you to open an account, unless you already have the visa... Catch 22 -

Finance Foreign Nationals Face Account Bans in Bangkok Bank Crackdown
You surely will be. I found the locals to be much friendlier there but the price/quality of accommodation and food sucks + bad transportation and infrastructure... I love vacationing there but I wouldn't want to live there long time. -

UK Defined Benefits pension, early retirement
Thanks, I can understand how interest rates can affect the transfer out value of the pension as the money they would need to give you to purchase annuities to give you an equivalent pension is less (my Xfer out value dropped by about 30% when annuity/interest rates shot up), but I can’t understand why the early retirement/taking the pension numbers would do anything but go up. Will do December’s quote middle of next week & then I’ll have 3 months of data to go back to WTW with. -

Report Norway Halts Income Letters at Thai Embassy; Retirees Affected
Changes since include: 1) Not being able to show the 65K as "total income" - vs "income transferred to Thailand" - when the embassy-letters stop for your country. 2) The change from 800K in the bank + 2 months living expenses to needing to show 800K in the bank for 5 months + early-submission time + 400K you can never use. No "grandfathering" was permitted for either of these changes - a departure from their previous policy of not changing the requirements for those already established/retired here.
