In a tragic incident in Kanchanaburi, a city police officer, allegedly under the influence, collided with a motorcycle, resulting in one fatality.

The deceased, identified as Ms. Dararung, aged 48, was found with a high alcohol level of 300 milligrams per deciliter, attempting to flee the scene, fearing a public backlash, reported Thai Rath.

The accident occurred on December 3, 2023, at 4:00 PM, on Highway 6066, near Wat Manothamaram. The collision left the motorcycle rider dead, with severe injuries. The driver, fearing the gathering crowd, resisted arrest, prompting a swift response from law enforcement. The authorities, led by Lt. Col. Supakorn Panchai, initiated a thorough investigation.

The victim's daughter, Ms. Thidarat, shared that her mother had a routine of daily calls. However, on that day, she left without specifying her destination. The investigation revealed that the driver, Lt. Somchai Bantotak, had purchased alcohol from a local market before the accident.

Despite attempts to escape, Lt. Somchai is now in custody and faces legal consequences for his actions. The authorities are scrutinizing CCTV footage and witness accounts to build a case against the drunk driver.

I really do hope they throw the book at this vermin...

An innocent life completely unnecessarily lost because of the selfish actions of drunken moron.

IF DUI stopped today, I wonder exactly how significantly Thailands death toll would reduce - I'd guess (without any facts) that it could reduce by half.... I know so very few Thai's that don't drink and drive.

Brings back memories of Centrelink in Aus.

My deceased mother was sent a letter stating  " since your death, you have received 3 fortnightly payments.

We would like you to contact us in regards to returning the money "
