I switched from Cricket to Mint because Mint  said they provided service in Thailand.   With Cricket my phone would not receive texts in Thailand (2 step verification)  I bought a new I phone and at Apple the rep said instead of trading it in keep it for the Thai sim card /service (excellent idea)  . On arrival in Bangkok I went to AIS kiosk they took the Mint sim card out of new I phone and I later placed it in my old I phone -it did not work !  I am contemplating switching back sim cards and using old I phone in Thailand hoping that when i make the switch the Mint sim card is re -recognized by the new I phone.   Anyone have Mint ?

Cricket was a Sprint MVNO so would not have service in Thailand.

But T-Mobile bought Cricket so anything is possible, you could probably contact T-Mo and get the number re-activated or ported out to T-Mo or one of their MVNO partners.

Does your Cricket phone use a SIM card? I can't see a Cricket phone working here with a Mint SIM.

Did you buy the Mint SIM in the U.S.? When? Did you activate it successfully there? It worked fine and then when you got to Thailand it didn't?

Yes  I bought in the US it worked .    It didn't work in Thailand  because when I arrived at Bangkok airport  I switched it out for a AIS sim card and put the mint sim card  in my old I phone.

I bought a new I phone in America  before I came to Thailand . Instead of trading it in the rep at the Apple store said keep it and put your American sim card in it when you get to Thailand  except old phone didn't recognize the mint sim card.

Follow up-  I went to AIS store in Lampang ,they put their sim card in my old i phone and put the mint sim card back in the new I phone.

IT WORKED ! I now can receive texts to my American phone number while in Thailand  the mint service is 15$ per month.
