Fighting off Houthis for months, US carrier in Red Sea may be running out of steam

The USS Dwight D. Eisenhower is long overdue for a break from the longest-running naval battle since WWII, but experts worry effort to protect shipping could flounder without it.

While not disagreeing with you, I think it is still early to see how accurate future Houthi attacks are or will there be a lot of random shots. Yes, I know you addressed the flow of shipping and not the accuracy of missile and drone attacks.

I think we're seeing that now:

Suspected Houthi drone strike in Red Sea damages China-bound ship

A Liberia-flagged container ship was damaged in an aerial drone strike allegedly carried out by the Houthis in the Red Sea, in the latest attack by the Yemini group targeting the vital maritime corridor.

The attack on the China-bound vessel took place off the coast of Hodeida city around dawn on Sunday, the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations centre, led by the British navy, said. It said the ship sustained damage but the mariners on board "were reported safe".

A replacement is on the way.

Of course, the big question is, how long will the U.S. continue this operation.

The Houthis, who received support from left wing protesters around the world (“Yaman make us proud, turn another ship around”) performing a Nazi salute.

It’s not even a horseshoe, the extreme of each side of the political spectrum are at the same exact point: Jew hate.

The big question used to be will the US-UK effort restore Red Sea shipping. And we know the big answer. The new big question is a lot smaller than the old one.

The real question is: Why does the US-UK allow this nonsense to continue?
