Loei—On January 25th, 2024, Loei rescue teams received accident reports on Loei-Chiang Khan Road, Loei-Wang Saphung Road, and Loei-Na Duang Road as rains started pouring, causing 20 multi-vehicle accidents in three hours.

According to a report by Loei rescue teams, as the rains started pouring, there was an accident report on Loei-Chiang Khan Road, a multi-vehicle crash. The rescue teams were dispatched to rescue the victims stuck inside the vehicles before transferring them to Loei Hospital.

However, it was reported that there were more than 10 accident reports on Loei-Wang Saphung Road and Loei-Na Duang Road. Overall, more than 20 accidents occurred and one serious injury was reported, according to Loei rescue teams.

Upon an investigation, multi-vehicle crashes occurred every year in this area as trucks carrying latex leaked a milky fluid from trees to the road. Especially, when the rains started to pour, the latex on the road caused slippery surfaces.

It is correct that Loei roads are always covered with Latex during this season , very sad that the authorities are not able to fix this problem.

However the driving skills of Loei drivers (as well as all other provinces in Thailand) are known to be horrible. There is no forward thinking and

no cautious driving during rain. Just yesterday during a motorbike ride there were several cars overtaking from the opposite direction  on a narrow road where clearly overtaking is not allowed even they saw me coming. These drivers were flashing their lights to signal I should move from the road. Unbelievable dangerous and near misses.

it is well known among locals that  these roads are very slippery, especially during rain. Cautious driving and forward thinking is the key here.

Thais thinking it's raining let's go faster

Must be a Loei thing because here in Chonburi they go slower.

The rain caused the accident for sure. On dry road the latex would give you even a better grip. But the main reason for this accident was the incapability of the drivers to foresee slippery roads during the rain. Probably driving too fast is another reason.🙏

As I said, the rain caused nothing, latex is the problem... so sort it out.

Although relative agencies enforced regulation on trucks carrying latex to prevent milky fluid  liquid leakage, a lot of individuals still  violated the law. lol

So regulations are NOT being enforced, yet again another fail by the RTP  🙄

IMO the RTP should share the responsibility for so many deaths and accidents in Thailand, by there failures to stop bad driving.

Without latex 50% of these accidents would not have happened. For the other 50% you have to ban rain as well. And 90 % of these accidents could habe been avoided if drivers had common sense.

You would think a precautionary plan would be developed after consistently having the same type of accidents. TIT...

You are asking for forward thinking. Remember where you are.
