KTC Credit Card ROP Points-How to redeem?

Recommended Posts

Not having KTC but have ROP card from Citi and AMEX. Both are the same so this may be relevant.

First of all make sure that your ROP account number is updated with the bank. You can't get miles back if transferred to wrong account.

Contact your bank (could be in mobile app or logged into their website or at the branch or by form (old style) or via the phone), and request to convert your reward points into miles. There will be a conversion ratio depending on the card you have - how many points for each mile. Once you have triggered this, it may take a couple of weeks before the miles appear inside your ROP account. The points will likely disappear from your credit card account immediately.

Miles can be used for purchase of ticket (though you need to pay the taxes and surcharges) for X class seats, which usually there are only 2-4 seats available per flight. It becomes difficult to use them for upgrades and near impossible to use them on Star Alliance flights, which is result of TG bankruptcy, most likely. They can be purchased for up to 1 year in advance.

So - contact bank, ask them to transfer them to your ROP account, wait a couple of weeks, check your status online (login to https://www.thaiairways.com/en_TH/rop/index.page ) and click on status on the left of the screen. Once miles are listed there, you can go to redeem miles menu and choose which flight to book. For you or any of your nominees.

Hope this helps.

Exactly as tomazbodner highlights...  We have Citi Royal Orchid Plus... and use the Air-miles for flights.

We have found it difficult to get Award Seats on flights at busier periods (Christmas / Summer and (Int'l) School Holidays).

We were stuck with a lot of miles for couple of years because we couldn't obtain Award seats on flights we wanted on dates we wanted....

Award seats can be booked at Max of 330 days in advance - and we did exactly that a year ago to book Award seats for travel this month.

IMO - Once the miles are in your account, the best way to book a flight is to have the 'dates in mind' and phone up TG, as they can look up whether there are award seats more quickly that using the internet booking on a trial and error basis.

Friends have had more success recently booking Awards seats so TG 'may' have opened up more seats per flight (perhaps after receiving too many complaints).

Are are award seats point only, or can you use a combination of cash and points?

Thai Airways have recently adopted a 'cash + Miles' option where you can use up to a maximum of 50,000 miles per ticket.

You'll need to go through the booking process, put in passengers names etc and get to the payment page at which point out can select how many miles you need to pay with to offset the cost.
