AS MANY AS 38 Thai and foreign tourists got injured after their Pattaya-bound bus slammed into a 22-wheel trailer-truck on the Motorway this afternoon (Feb. 5) with the latter vehicle overturning and blocking three lanes, TV Channel 7 said.

A Highway Police team together with Ruamkatanyu Foundation rescuers rushed to the scene of the accident, km37+700, inbound to Chonburi, Bang Bo district, Samut Prakan province, where they found the Bangkok-Pattaya bus parked at the right lane with the front damaged. The 38 injured passengers were waiting for help at the road side.

Ten of the bus passengers were quickly given first aid with six rushed to Bang Pakong Hospital and four Chularat 11 Hospital. Most of the remaining suffered minor injuries and had to wait to be taken to hospital.

So who pays all  the hospital bills will it be the Tourists? Why should insurance companies have to pay unless it is the bus companies?

  • Another high speed rear end collision.  Nothing will ever change their terrible driving habits are ingrained in the culture.

Not to mention the Pattaya frequent fliers club:sad:

We can not take in all that is bad in the world(that would be unbearable), so we desensitize ourselves to some degree.

However, we should take care not to end up with hearts cold as stone. The trick is finding a middle way.

Going for if not already reached, another world record, on how many bus crashes can you have in a new year holiday period, luckily for Thailand we have 3 new years every year.

It wasn't "parked" it's where it came to a stand-still after slamming into the back of a 22 wheeled truck-trailer.

That's the full bus capacity, 38 seats. Basically everyone on the bus got injured

I take this bus on a regular basis. I think people got injured because they were not buckled up. But I'm not sure if the seatbelts on this bus are even functional. I usually don't buckle up either, but now I think I have to start doing that, if at all possible.

Mr. Chainarong (surname withheld), 32, the trailer-truck driver who was slightly injured said he was driving in the second lane from left when the bus suddenly rammed into the rear at full force leading to him losing control and the big vehicle flipping over.

Speeding and tailgating? 2024 and Thailand still doesn't understand why this is dangerous and allows it everyday. More to come soon.

Those big trucks are supposed to be in the left lane... I hope the driver is charged for his illegal actions causing bodily harm. Ohh wait, I forgot this is Thailand and being charged for driving  offences means paying off a bribe.

With the number of accidents here insurance companies are going to be looking at there insurance premiums for visitors

Thats a lot of fruit  baskets, always  a  help.

They  hog the  right hand lane  at  night and WILL not  move  over, when you flash them despite the other 2  lanes being empty they put  on the right indicator, you  have to undertake......then slow down in front  of them and put  on the right indicator...........they really dont  like that!

I only hope when Move Forward Party does get in they will do a huge clean out of lazy, corrupt cops and focus on employing cops who will actually work to protect the Thai public.

The whole current Police procedure manual can be torn up and they should get advisers in from Singapore, Australia etc to train them on how to run a Police Force that will work to bring down the hideous road toll

Augers well for international news.Definately aimed at attracting more tourist. Save on hotel exspenses we have a hospital bed waiting for you.

Always in a hurry

Cannot wait

Always some one  up your arse

Overtaking on the left

Overtaking on the hill

Overtaking on the bend

Looking at Facebook

Looking at a movie

Cannot see out of the windscreen because it's 90 % tinted

Cannot see out of the windscreen because of budah structures or luang  por figures

Cannot stop because because there is 6 ton in a 1 ton pickup

Cannot stop because the breaks don't work

Cannot steer properly because the front wheels are not touching the ground due to weight distribution

Please feel free to add to the list 😜

Could the truck be in lane 2 because it was passing a vehicle in lane 1?

Unless there are some potholes making i inconvenient to use the leftmost lane. 😟

It does not bear thinking about if this had happened on the elevated part.

It says the truck was carrying oil which spilled onto the carriageway. That would make driving conditions more 'interesting '
