Its Happening - Law to Tax Overseas Income Now in Progress
That is literally the title of this thread, the Revenue Department announced last year that they want to tax our foreign earnings without them being remitted and we've been here speculating about it ever since. They also said they will be writing a law which is odd as that's the job of government, not a tax collector - so they say a lot of things and I'm sure many people are ignoring them as it was likely driven by the former Prime Minister who is suddenly not Prime Minister any more. Locking in all current profits / capital gains prior to any change of the law is a good move to make in a non resident year so it remains non taxable forever. -

The Ukrainian refugees in Europe.
A vast aerea of the Ukraine can not be considered a "war zone". Overwhelmingly, most Ukrainians do not feel the urge to "flee" to western countries. But, alone in my small home country, there are now over 70 thousand Ukrainian "refugees". About 15% are gainfully employed, the rest enjoys the benefits of "social security". Among them a great number of "able bodied young men". Will all those "refugees" receive a warm welcome once the war is over? Rather not. They will stay here, claiming they would have to fear "repercussions" in the Ukraine. (like the Russian prisoners of war, returning back to Stalins empire). That will be their narrative. A slap in the face for those Ukrainians that have decided to stand their ground, instead of heading west to explore the benefits of the western social security systems. Finally: The status of "refugees" must be re-defined, Otherwise (due to climate change and endless political turmoil) half of the African population will end up in Europe, enjoying "refugee-status". End of. -

Exactly. They COULD, but probably won't, but COULD. Up 2 them. They do get "spend" amounts of different nationalities of tourists from Visa Card and MasterCard, so the ability is already there to do so. -

I understand that you're trolling Gant but others may not. It's not that difficult to imagine information/data passing from BOT to TRD or that TRD is an end user of BOT data and that TRD has investigative abilities of Mastercard/Visa data. -

Maybe the first time you will encounter a problem will be at a boarder, trying to leave, after being inside Thailand for more than 180 days. Do let us know if you still managed to catch your flight. Did you ever consider you MAY need a document from the TRD showing your pension is a government service pension, thus covered under a DTA? -

Thailand doesn't use tax codes. It seems odd that you would visit two different regional offices because only the one that manages the area that you live in would be interested in you, the other would redirect you. Where was this? The response from Bangkok not knowing anything about this is not credible, sorry. -
