Srikcir Posted February 20, 2024 Posted February 20, 2024 Increased Tourism from Kazakhstani - a low-value decision with minimal impact on Thailand GDP. Rather what about a high-value Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with Kazakhstani that can increase Thailand's GDP? "During the last 26 years the exports of Thailand to Kazakhstan have increased at an annualized rate of 10%, from $4.09M in 1995 to $48.7M in 2021." https://oec.world/en/profile/bilateral-country/tha/partner/kaz Thailand can do substantially better. EU trade with Kazakhstani: https://policy.trade.ec.europa.eu/eu-trade-relationships-country-and-region/countries-and-regions/kazakhstan_en In 2022, the EU's trade in goods with Kazakhstan totalled €40.2 billion, a 74% increase on 2021. EU exports were worth €10.4 billion, an 89% increase on 2021, and imports from Kazakhstan reached €29.8 billion (up 70% vs. 2021). EU services exports to Kazakhstan stood at €1.5 billion in 2021, compared to €1.4 billion in 2020. Imports of services from Kazakhstan stood at €0.6 billion in 2021, vs. €0.5 billion in 2021. Thailand is going for the cookies when it should be going for the gold.

mrfill Posted February 21, 2024 Posted February 21, 2024 Another new word to add to the dictionary - Kazakhstani. Presumably this replaces the proper word Kazakh which those people had been using for centuries. Next - Thailanders
