It hasn't been 'officially free' for years, more than 10 at least.  As stated, most charge about 500.

About 6 months ago in Ratchaburi I did not have to pay anything to get stamps transfered.

Only 200 baht! Hua Hin charges 500, no receipt.

Hua Hin does give you a receipt for the transfer/500 baht

Which copies of pp did you provide.

I'm going to CW tomorrow to do this.

I have read couple of reports CW and another that the IO required bank book.

Was never needed previously.

Bank Book was required, as was TM30 (because new passport number?).

I did my transfer at CM.  All I needed to do was fill out the immigration form for the transfer.  They did have me check in w/TM30 office (5 min) and 90-day as it was due that date too (2 min) but the transfer and other reports were all FREE.  But TIT so not sure what your options might be...could also be part of the possible Mar19 cost increases for all immigration processes.  This was my second transfer and just need the form and the two passports (I copied all pages of the old passport just in case they wanted that too).

If something like that happened to me I would ask for a receipt, saying that I need if for the tax declaration.

And when they refuse? As they would. We just have to suck it up. Same corruption all over the poorest countries in SE Asia - or any part of the world I'd guess. Gone across the border to Laos lately? Funny how the poorest countries are the most corrupt, and the most successful are the least corrupt.

Trat=Free. The more people just hand over cash for free services, the more offices will jump on the band wagon. As with the LoR I even tried asking for an 'Express' service in Trat and was refused point blank, come back in 3 days.

can't agree with that. I just transferred my stamps to my new passport at CM and NO CHARGE involved, and CM is notorious for adding on unofficial fees.

As I stated, and obviously true, some charge and some don't.  Lucky you that they didn't.   I've had 3 transferred, 2 free, 1 charged / 500 and issued a proper receipt.

Yes. When I went last year to transfer to new passport, they asked to see it. Reason given was that they wanted to see that bank balance had remained legal since last extension.

I have learnt to disregard almost anything from Nonthanburi.

So you are stating that after attending immigration to have stamps transferred that for your next annual extensions you were required to provide ....what exactly.

Surely not copies of all old pp pages.

FWIW here is snippet from form requesting transfer of stamps

Arrival card TM6.

Currently not required at airports.

Any form that asks for tm6 just ignore that field

So how can we provide that is they're not even handed out on arrival?

These are the scabby bits of white paper we used to get, right?

Didn't give to me, now twice. Should be automatic, I shouldn't have to ask.

Yes and was discontinued at airports.

Still required for land border entries

Any form that asks for it eg TM47 etc skip that field

I guess that again is at the interpretation of the office, because when I did the stamp transfer at Jomtien last week, none of all that was requested.

I had it all ready, but the only thing I had to do was fill in a form which stated the dates and number of the old and new passport

Even in the sticks, they make up the rules as they go along. This was an office that was known to be helpful but now they are like all the rest.

200 baht administration charge as local office policy to transfer stamps from old passport to new even though it is quite clear that this is a free service.

Shouldn't really be surprised but still it is unfortunate.

A heads up to all who live in the province.

Wow, cheap, I pay 500 baht for having visa-stamps moved, which is actually a reasonable fee, if you think of it and compares to what public service costs at many places...:whistling:

So just home now from trip to CW for transfer of stamps.

Apart from the list of what photocopies they require from old and new pp (list on back of form I posted earlier)

They wanted not just updated bank book but  also copy of all bank book pages.

She carefully checked the balances back till my last extension

In any event no more first hand reports re CW immigration from me.

I'm moving to the Dark Side for extensions

Edit: as I posted earlier....the reentry permit was not transferred as it was obtained at DMK.

If you are planning to renew your pp then obtain the permit at your immigration office so it can be transferred.

Just nasty of them.

There was no need for any of that.

Sounds as if he didn't have copies of passports let alone receipts.

Should we now put CW on your list of places to ignore? 😉
