Visa Waiver Program Exploited by 'Burglary Tourists' Targeting Luxury US Homes

A recent surge in burglaries targeting luxury homes across the United States has shed light on a concerning trend: the exploitation of visa waivers by so-called "burglary tourists." These individuals, often from South America and entering the US under visa waiver programs, join sophisticated burglary rings that prey on affluent neighborhoods.

In Southern California's Orange County, residents like Carol and Jeff Starr fell victim to a devastating burglary, losing millions worth of jewelry stored in a secure safe. The perpetrators, believed to be part of a larger burglary ring, capitalized on the absence of advanced security measures and swiftly executed their plan.

Prosecutors attribute the rise in such crimes to loopholes in the visa waiver program, which allows individuals from qualifying countries to enter the US for up to 90 days without a traditional tourist visa. While the intent of the program is to foster economic and cultural ties, it has inadvertently facilitated criminal activity, particularly in affluent communities.

Burglary tourists often employ sophisticated tactics, including wearing camouflage attire and disrupting alarm systems, to evade detection and swiftly execute their crimes. The stolen goods are typically sold quickly, with proceeds funneled back to the suspects' home countries, primarily Chile.

Despite efforts by law enforcement to address the issue, challenges persist in prosecuting perpetrators due to limited access to background information on visa waiver recipients. The lack of transparency from countries like Chile hampers efforts to hold individuals accountable for their crimes.

Critics, including Orange County District Attorney Todd Spitzer, have called for stricter oversight of the visa waiver program and greater cooperation from foreign governments in sharing crucial information. While steps have been taken to enhance security measures and information sharing, concerns linger about the effectiveness of these measures in curbing criminal activity.

For victims like the Sundar family, whose dream home was targeted by burglary tourists, the emotional and psychological toll of such incidents is profound. They join a growing chorus of voices calling for urgent action to address the systemic vulnerabilities that allow burglary tourists to operate with impunity.

As communities grapple with the aftermath of these brazen crimes, there is a pressing need for comprehensive reforms to safeguard against future incidents and ensure the safety and security of residents nationwide.

Gotta love the way they're blaming legal tourists, and not Biden's invasion of illegals.

Nor do they blame sanctuary cities and cash free bail that shield them from deportation and puts the criminals back on the street, another genius Dem wet dream.

CNN, carrying Biden's and the DNC's water.  Again.

You didn’t spot the fact that these crooks were legally in the U.S.?

Or you did and you hoped nobody else had?

Gosh.  I missed that data in the CNN report.  And the LA Times report. And the MSN report.  And the NewsNation report.  And the Daily Beast report.  And...

None of them indicate what percentage are illegals and what percentage are legal.

But I didn't miss the fact that a dozen MSM outlets on the same day did a report blaming legal tourists, quoting "prosecutors", but no numbers.  Almost as if there's a coordinated effort to shift the blame away from the Biden Border invasion.

Carrying water for the Dems.

Is that headline from the same folks that brought us "the border is secure", "safe and effective" and "most secure election in history"?

And the same knobs that claimed a measles epidemic (10 cases) was ravaging Florida?

Color me unconvinced that more than one or 2% of the burglars are tourists.

In fact, let me make the claim that it's a tiny, tiny percentage (with the same evidence as the OP- bupkis) and see how long before someone calls me out for not providing proof.  Because that's only required from the right.  Lefties can lie like rugs and just call doubters racists or anti-immigrant to shut down any discussion.

Legally, under just one of the insane rules of the Biden era. All combined to ensure disaster.
