Travel Insurance For Thai Gf Visiting The Uk

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Can anyone recommend where my thai gf can buy travel insurance for a visit to the UK?

She will be visiting for 60 days on a VV.

Costs?

Advice is much appreciated.

Eamon

I insured my Lao partner for a NL visit via the New hampshire insurance company which have an office at the Siam tower (21st floor). For a schengen visa the requirement was a minimum coverage of 1.5 million baht in medical expenses, for which I paid around 3200 baht, the insurance was valid for one year and would cover mulitple periods, not exceeding 90 days, so his second visit to NL was also covered with the same insurance. Good to know that they actually refunded 100% of his medical bills the first time. And of course going to a doctor and having some medicine in NL is expensive, so he was able to claim 6000 baht, no problem whatsoever.

Hey Eamon,

Just a little word of warning on this area. UK insurance companies will not cover non UK residents unless they are in the UK for 6 month and have status. Maybe not relevant but something to be aware of.
