Is this what Trump should do ? -

I have an unconventional perspective on this matter. If I were Trump, I'd opt to plead guilty. I'd aim to reduce it to a single charge, pay the fines, endure any business repercussions, perhaps serve a brief jail sentence, and portray myself as a martyr. This tactic could generate substantial fundraising, with Secret Service ensuring my safety. By doing so, I could swiftly conclude the legal proceedings, evade the daily courtroom appearances, and focus on my campaign. This trial is likely the only one preceding the election. If I resume campaigning vigorously, I could secure the presidency in November, effectively ending all legal troubles. It might sound radical, but if Trump doesn't make this strategic move, if he doesn't change his plea, and persists with the trial, it could prolong the ordeal by another six weeks. How much worse could it get for him?

Rachel Maddow, the well-known MSNBC host, has been closely following the legal proceedings surrounding former President Donald Trump’s hush money trial. Let’s delve into what she has observed and her unique perspective on the matter.

  1. Inside the Courtroom: Rachel Maddow had the opportunity to be present in a Manhattan courtroom during Trump’s trial. She described Trump as appearing “annoyed” and “miserable” while facing more than 30 counts related to hush money payments1. It’s striking to witness the demeanor of a former president in such a legal setting.

  2. The Hush Money Case: The case revolves around payments made to adult film actress Stormy Daniels to allegedly cover up an affair with Trump. These hush money payments have been a subject of intense scrutiny and investigation2. Maddow’s reporting sheds light on the timeline of events and the sudden dissipation of the SDNY (Southern District of New York) investigation.

While your argument has some validity, trump is unlikely to win over independents by admitting he's:   ---a pathological liar ---a serial philanderer ---a career business fraudster

---a pathological liar

---a serial philanderer

---a career business fraudster (his previous convictions for bank, insurance and charity fraud just add to his negative image)

He will never lose his cult, as they have never been rational, nor do they care even if he was a pedo or cannibal. They would just worship him more for 'being who he is'. His cult lives vicariously through him. They have no clue what his policies are, other than to 'own the libs'. They see via him a chance to forget the banal and meaningless lives they have led, and 'get back' at all the people who have succeeded in life without excuse. trump's appeal is that he gives his cult an excuse for being what they are: losers.

He’s not going to ever admit to being beneath the law.

From APRIL 11, 2024

Then there’s another, less explored route that Trump’s team could try: asking the judge to give the jury the option of convicting him on lesser, misdemeanor offenses instead of the felony counts that have actually been brought by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg and his team of prosecutors.

A person familiar with Trump’s legal strategy told me that some of Trump’s lawyers have quietly — albeit tentatively — considered that option in the run-up to the trial, which has not been previously reported. Trump’s attorneys did not respond to a request for comment.

“Now, obviously he doesn’t want” to be convicted at all, the person familiar with Trump’s legal strategy said, “but a misdemeanor conviction in state court in Manhattan is going to have absolutely no effect on this guy’s ability to run for office or on his liberty.”

He might also just try to stop lying.

Outside the courtroom today, trump claimed that, though he really wants to testify, he is not allowed because he's under a gag order.

That, apparently, is the excuse he will float to his goobers when---after claiming he's ready to testify---he will not go anywhere near the witness stand.

Of course it's a lie. The gag order does not prohibit him from testifying. If he (and his lawyer) really wanted him to testify, he is welcome to do so.

I wonder if the fever swamps will run with his lie, or point out reality. I'm going to guess they run with his lie, and act all faux outraged.

Let the USA get back to some semblance of civility without made up dramas day after day.  Let the Republican party get back to being for a few things rather than against everything.

Oh sorry I must have closed my beaufiful blue...some say very blue....eyes and drifted off to dreamland again.

What he will do is lose in November, crying all the way how it was rigged yet again, and then fund raise off of Stolen Election II, that is the best case scenario.  Hey, if the chumps keep sending in a million bucks a day that's pretty smooth.

Between now and the convention in July, he may suddenly find himself surrounded by Christian Nationalist types who will turn him into a figurehead leader, keep him on his golf course in Florida, and do the will of God and The Founders via assigns in DC: that will be the end of him.

He’s already setting up his excuses for November, including putting the justification for violence if he doesn’t win,

Well, just this morning I found some news related to the Christian Nationalist putsch I mentioned above.

https://newrepublic.com/post/181223/michael-flynn-legal-troubles

I think Flynn and his buddies are going to help promote DT (in their own sick way) to get elected, and once in office they will run the country for him.  If that comes to pass I suspect DT will be resting on the golf course next to his first wife in the near future.  The successor will not necessarily be his 2024 running mate.

As Flynn has been heard to brag: "I know how to do this, I've overthrown governments before."

Are you implying that Trump's mega rich donors live boring and meaningless lives?  Your description fits many other candidates' supporters.

Rich donors are in it for the money and most understand his personality defects.
Unlike his cult followers who have never been rich and never will be. And cult members love having their identity reaffirmed by a con man. It would be funny if it was not so dangerous.

I would not listen to Rachel. She's an elitist/socialist/commie. She lives in her own fantasy.

It's just another typically nonsensical, moronic, Trump cultist diversion to throw off the stench. They got nuthin' but lies, diversions, delusions, false realities and BS...same as their master. Chip off the ol' block(head). 🤣

Joe Biden boasts that the U.S, has the best economy in the world.  This is because his massive spending programs have boosted America's GDP.  A Democratic con artist at work.  The fact is, both Biden and Trump are con artists, each appealing to their own cults.  The danger is in both camps.

Only President in the history of the USA to not peacefully transfer power is Trump. I do not deny that others including Biden are not saints or perfect. But Trump has caused more damage to our elections, democracy, courts, and has taught his followers the lie that manners are weak, try to win by intimidation, and he is above the law. He is a complete user with no morals, ethics and is like a dangerous TV preacher or cult leader.  It is hard to imagine anyone would want their child to imitate and grow up to act like Trump.

One other option would be for him to take a trip to Oregon and have a doctor there just end his life. He would be making the ultimate sacrifice by sparing the world years and years of his nonsense.

Don't they have to prove that he has the mental capacity to give such instructions to a doctor?

Better he goes to Switzerland where the lack of mental acuity is not relevant!

None of my children and grandchildren come even close in behavior and attitude to either one of these despicable men.  Both display a lack of character and are conniving liars.

If you were forced to pick one person of the two I am sure that Trump would be the loser like he was in the last election. No one wants a Trump baby or child IMO. Trump is the best weapon the dictators of the world have ever imagined. Truly one of the five most dangerous people on the planet Earth.
