Politics Activist Jatuporn Prompan Calls for Mass Protest Against Thai PM
1. The whole issue about what the PM said is so stupid. The politicians have sunk to a new low. The storm will pass. 2. Anusorn and Jatuporn are just trying to feather their own beds. -

Is English being taught in the Thai schools?
I agree Thai schools have many issues that hold students back. Nevertheless, my tenure was in schools with few or none of the typical nonsense associated with standard bog Thai schools. All were well funded, private and or elite schools. In all, a fundamental fail was administration did not want to deal with hiring/firing...the hard and mandatory work of assembling a proper team. Moreover, they did not want to put any change agents in administration/ hiring. In many instances the people charged with intake process were lazy, bad and even horrible teachers as well often hiring acquaintances of bad teachers or randos off of Facebook. My critique is valid. A decade of teaching here. Five secondary schools and approximately nearly NES 100 teachers. Additional Filipino, Thai, not in that mix. -

Tourism Decline of Chinese Tourists in Pattaya Raises Concerns
Actually not thinking about fx rates at all. The yen is very strong right now which argues against my point. No, the point I am making is take the cost of a Japanese hotel 20 years ago and increase it by 1% a year for inflation. Then take the cost of a European hotel, or US, or other country, and increase it by, say, 7/8% a year for inflation. The expensive Japanese hotel from 20 years ago suddenly becomes a much better buy comparatively speaking. FX rates have ebbed and waned over the years. And vis a vis Chinese visitors, my principal point was that Japan and Thailand are really two different kinds of holidays. You might choose one for one reason or the other for a different reason, but they aren’t really, imho, a replacement for each other because they are such a different experience -
