Yes, you spotted it. I was trying to say that this isn't uniquely a Thai problem.

I never had this problem in the UK.

I've always had great service in blighty!

especially in the greasy spoons!

Indeed... Crappy food and crappy service is not a uniquely Thai issue...

However, the frequency with which problems are faced seems to be a 'uniquely bob smith problem...

Perhaps not the rubbish food he received, but perhaps the level of response can be but down to a bit of 'bob-smithery'...

I simply asked the waitress to return my food to the chef as it wasn't cooked how I ordered it.

Standard practice in any restaurant if you ask me.

That is my own personal experience.

Bo!!ox... Your bias is showing...

There are plenty of places in the UK with poor service. In fact, some of my family in the UK recently shared a terrible restaurant experience.

While you might encounter less surliness in the UK, it often depends on how respectfully the situation is managed. Bob, considering your attitude towards Thais, the waitress’s response might have been influenced by how you spoke to her. It seems likely that many of the situations you complain about are of your own making.

Nope...  Thats your negative bias shining though again, you've generalised a nation with your sarcastic slur...

(Sarcastic) - "Amazing 'some of Thailand', eh?"...  would be more accurate, but it doesn't roll off the tongue as well and the balance does not fit your 'all Thai's bad'  rhetoric.

Wrong....    that waitress is not present at all your other negative encounters...

There is only one constant in all of the issues you face with Thai people...

I never face such issues with people from other nationalities.

I think the problem is a bit of both   ....

*  Thai attitude ....  fancy someone complaining in my restaurant about the food

*   Lack of communication .... the waiter probably didn't understand that it was not (  suk suk ) burger, and the fries were yen

I've seen many places try to cook a cheeseburger, hamburger or hotdog,

and honestly,  they haven't got a clue, no lettuce, no cooked onion,  tomato slice green,  no salt & pepper,  no BBQ sauce. ...  they're useless if it's farang food.    imo

@richard_smith237

This, I think, is the crux of the matter.

They just can't handle any form of criticism!

Wrong again... The 'constant' is YOU and Thai-People....

If you have an underlying negative demeanour towards Thai's... that will be picked up.

Your posting history is not one that is ever complimentary towards Thai's.. the natural assumption is that you simply dislike all Thai people... a sense of bigotry shines through.

Given your open attitudes on this forum, I'm quite sure all the Thai's I know would find you quite objectionable... you would of course blame them for being Thai... instead of looking at yourself and how you treat Thai's...

Your bias shining through again...  You cherry picked part of steven's quote that suits your rhetoric...

You ignored the 'lack of communication' comment...  as this be admitting a failing on your part.

I ignored it because it simply wasn't relevant!

Communication was not a factor.

The waitress took my order and spoke good english.

She understood what well done means.

She even asked me, in english, how would I like my burger cooked...

if she didn't then in all fairness she shouldn't be working in a restaurant that caters to expats and sells western food! steaks, burgers etc....
