ICC Seeks Arrest Warrants for Sinwar and Netanyahu Over War Crimes & October 7 Attack

The International Criminal Court (ICC) is pursuing arrest warrants for Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on charges of war crimes and crimes against humanity related to the October 7 attacks on Israel and the ensuing conflict in Gaza. This development was revealed by the ICC's chief prosecutor Karim Khan in an exclusive interview with CNN’s Christiane Amanpour.

 

Khan specified that the ICC is also seeking warrants for Israel’s Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, alongside two other prominent Hamas leaders: Mohammed Diab Ibrahim al-Masri, known as Mohammed Deif, leader of the Al Qassem Brigades, and Ismail Haniyeh, Hamas’ political leader. These warrants against Israeli political figures mark an unprecedented move by the ICC, as it targets high-ranking officials from a nation closely allied with the United States. This places Netanyahu alongside Russian President Vladimir Putin, for whom the ICC issued an arrest warrant over the conflict in Ukraine.

 

The charges against Sinwar, Haniyeh, and al-Masri encompass severe allegations including "extermination, murder, taking of hostages, rape, and sexual assault in detention." Khan highlighted the brutality of the October 7 incident, stating, “The world was shocked on the 7th of October when people were ripped from their bedrooms, from their homes, from the different kibbutzim in Israel. People have suffered enormously.”

 

Conversely, Netanyahu and Gallant face accusations of "causing extermination, causing starvation as a method of war, including the denial of humanitarian relief supplies, and deliberately targeting civilians in conflict."

 

Netanyahu has previously condemned the potential issuance of ICC arrest warrants as "an outrage of historic proportions," emphasizing that Israel has a robust independent legal system that thoroughly investigates legal violations.  Responding to Netanyahu’s remarks, Khan stated, “Nobody is above the law.” He suggested that Israel, despite its objections to the ICC’s jurisdiction, could challenge the court's decisions legally, “They are free, notwithstanding their objections to jurisdiction, to raise a challenge before the judges of the court and that’s what I advise them to do.”

 

Although neither Israel nor the United States are ICC members, the court claims jurisdiction over Gaza, East Jerusalem, and the West Bank following the Palestinian leaders’ formal acceptance of the court’s jurisdiction in 2015. The pursuit of these high-profile arrest warrants by the ICC underscores the global legal and political complexities surrounding the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and highlights the international community's efforts to address severe violations of human rights and humanitarian laws.

The article doesn't say that Israel has been committing war crimes , they are just accusations and it hasn't been proven in Court , they need to attend Court first and to force that , arrest warrants are sought before being issued .

I agree, everyone basically agrees Hamas have committed war crimes. 

Many have said the same about Israel. 

The ICC saying it is huge and if convicted will affect all the Western countries complicit in aiding them.

Also it will affect between Israel and the world, which in my humble opinion is what they deserve for starving innocent men, women and kids.
