The guy in the grey t shirt gets inbetween both parties, seems to be trying to calm the situation down?

     Watched the video and my first thought was where were the police?  The Thai man kicking the Brit should be chaged with attempted murder, or murder if the man dies.   Security personnel need proper training.

I have been to Pattaya, but not soi 6, and if you say it is family friendly and quality tourism, well

Even Thais cruise down there to see the sights. My ex from a good family used to love driving down there with her friends. 

 

So yes, a mix of different types of tourists go to see the attractions, not only sex-tourists looking for services.

It's true. Those photos will draw more attention to the sex industry in Thailand than usual as a result of the number of eyeballs which that news story might draw in. But it's hard to even go on YouTube these days search for anything about Thailand without some video popping up showing you a street crawl filled with lots of girls and transsexuals from one of the red light districts in Thailand.

The spliced video is on YouTube, including the CCTV inside Helicopter Bar.

 

There is zero evidence in the video of any cashier or bargirl being struck, and no cashier or bargirl broken nose. There does appear to be a dispute over a bill, which must have been in raised voices, as something drew the 'security'  to rush in.

 

Someone in a black shirt (CCTV image not clear, so could be foreigner or a Thai) enters the scene and tries to explain things to the guards.

 

There's a little pushing and shoving as the guards get aggressive and the customers take exception to that. A possibly unrelated customer enters the scene and the black shirt guy pushes him outside.

 

Though the sound is unavailable, there might be some verbal insults shared. One of the security guys goes after the guy in the white t-shirt (after white t-shirt walks out into the street) and throws the first punches (as the two move beyond the CCTV camera's reach). Another video splice clearly shows the guard initiating the punches. The Brits might have been vocal, but the physical violence looks to be initiated solely by the guards, not the Brits.

 

As a couple of the guards were kicking the guy in the white shirt, the guy in the gray shirt comes to his defense. The guards then set upon him, including a kick to the face when he is down. The guard who threw the first punch, but apparently took one in retaliation/self-defense, gathered his breath and then went full on to the white shirt guy, who was flat on his back, and delivered a kick to the side of the head, seemingly rendering the white shirt guy unconscious.

 

Lots of posters in these threads have said the Brits deserved it for 'breaking the bargirl's nose'. That does not seem to have happened, so people really jumped to bad conclusions.

 

The entire thing looks to be little more than a bill dispute that got wildly out of hand. In a civilized world, if such a thing exists, there must be better ways to settle such disputes.

Security guards arrested after tourist assault in Pattaya

Pattaya City Police apprehended three security guards after a viral video captured them allegedly assaulting a tourist. The incident, which has caused widespread condemnation and raised concerns about Pattaya’s image as a tourist destination, occurred at approximately 11.36pm yesterday.

 

Police Colonel Navin Teerawit, superintendent of Pattaya City Police Station, led the operation to detain the suspects.

 

The individuals, identified as 27 year old Ball, 36 year old Tom, and 24 year old Ice were taken in for questioning and further legal action. These guards were reportedly part of a freelance group providing security for multiple bars, though they were not directly linked to any specific establishment.

 

The guards have admitted their involvement in the incident. Ball claimed he was initially assaulted by a tourist, which led to injuries requiring medical attention.

Despite this alleged provocation, the guards’ actions have been widely criticised as excessive, particularly since one guard was seen kicking a tourist in the head as he lay on the ground after being beaten.

 

 

 

Pol. Col. Navin reprimanded the guards, stressing that their primary duty is to ensure the safety of tourists, not to engage in violence. He emphasised the need for restraint and the importance of involving law enforcement to de-escalate conflicts.

 

“Security personnel must act professionally and maintain composure. Their actions directly impact Pattaya’s reputation as a safe and welcoming tourist destination.”

The superintendent ordered a strict legal follow-up to ensure the guards face the consequences of their actions. The investigation is supported by CCTV footage, which documents the escalation of the confrontation and serves as crucial evidence.

 

The incident has sparked a broader conversation about the conduct of security personnel in Pattaya, highlighting the delicate balance between maintaining order and preserving the city’s welcoming atmosphere for tourists.

 

Details of the legal charges against the guards have not been immediately disclosed by Pattaya police. Despite various rumours circulating online, the condition of the tourist who appeared to be kicked in the head remains unclear.

 

His friends, who were also present, have reportedly declined to file police reports or press charges, seemingly wanting to move past the incident. However, given the viral nature of the video, avoiding legal repercussions may no longer be possible, reported Pattaya News.

This so called "Guards" are criminals. Incidents like this are know since the 70's and will be continued until the Police waking up and going against the bar owners...but brown envelopes will solve the matter

Khaosod reporting that the bar attempted to make the farang in the white pay another person's bill after he had paid his own. When they tried he refused, became annoyed and verbally abusive. Security arrived and then started fighting and assaulting the punters.

If people molest the girls or don't pay their bills there are consequences, often severe consequences and it happens fast.

And I am sure that is one of the reasons why most visitors behave and pay their bills. Great.

Personally, I am happy that all in all we, the good guys, can visit bars and those streets without meeting the bad guys.

Anyway, this acting was ways over the top. From a certain point on, an obsolete, and reckless criminal offence by those thugs.

As I noted on the other (now closed) thread, this video will go viral internationally, and the reputation of the "Family Resort", where prostitution does not exist, is going to take a hit. I am waiting to see what sort of damage control the authorities will pursue.

 

The women in the video are not dressed as coyish and demure office workers or 7-11 checkout clerks, so viewers will draw their own conclusions as to the type of work they do.

 

Thailand likes to pretend what draws tourists to it, but it does not seem that it's only temples and spicy food. Even so-called quality tourists often go have a look-see on Walking Street, Soi Cowboy, Nana Plaza and perhaps also Soi 6. I would guess the reason the 'entertainment' industry has not been totally eradicated is both because the authorities know full well it draws tourists, and also because so many Thais make a living owning or working in such venues.

 

In the major tourist areas of Pattaya and Bangkok, Thailand is largely bars, agogos, massage shops, weed shops....and Indian tailors. Expat retirees living in the countryside and visiting the local temple every day might argue that agogos, etc. are not the 'real' Thailand, but the fact is that is the reputation Thailand has around the world.
