It's a shame they aren't pressing charges, and the Thai legal system means someone needs to make a complaint. There should be something in place that means security thugs can't just beat tourists to a pulp and then get away with it if they don't want to press charges and just want to leave and forget about it.

 

The guards will probably feel proud about what they did, outnumbering the foreingers and using weapons.

I am pretty sure they would also have received the same treatment - except they had an important father or so.

Thais react with violence because they know the police does little to nothing. 

And they do it with other Thais and foreigners.

 

Do I like it?

Let's say it like this: I like that the bad guys are punished, and someone takes care that there is little or no trouble.

If the police do that, fine. If the police don't do it and someone else "solves" those issues, that's also fine with me.

 

Sometimes I see on YouTube videos where criminals in the USA rob stores. And nothing happens. And if the police arrest someone, then often the judges release the bad guys on the same day or within a day or two. And then the bad guys do it again. And again.

Would the bad guys do it again and again if they were locked up? No. Would the bad guys do it again and again if they would know they would get beaten up, possible with fractures and hospital visits. No.

 

People who behave don't have to worry that they get punished for no reason.

Looks like the Business Security Act is it. Meanwhile, there is something in place to help ensure tourist louts pay their bills and avoid hitting Thai security gurads in aggressive confrontations.

Yes, so now it does seem like they are all miraculously OK.
 

The thing that really startlingly stands out though is how the "security" guards approached this thing as a rage infused brawl. They weren't doing their job. They were physically attacking a bunch of guys who didn't want to fight.
 

And once on the ground, and begging for mercy, the guards still attacked them even more violently and kicked an unconscious guy in the head.
 

This isn't security. This is violent brutality. And once the guys regained consciousness, and tried to walk away, the guards still wanted to have another go at them as seen in this video. Where is this in any way what a security guard is supposed to do? They were bludgeoning guys lying on the ground, who had already paid their bills, were defenseless and certainly no threat to anyone. The whole thing is so warped. 
 

And if the 3 guys were part of a conspiracy to rip off the bar for 2,800 Baht, then they should have called the police and had them arrested. Or if one of the guys really attacked one of the bar maids, then, again, neutralize him and arrest him.
 

But I guess that's not how they do in Pattaya, the hub of safe and peaceful family tourism.
