The Thai authorities apprehended a man suspected of electrocuting his father using a fan’s electrical wire, leading to the 88 year old’s death at their home. The suspect, who faces potential capital punishment, denies the charges amid financial motives and previous family conflicts.

The incident occurred around 11pm yesterday. The authorities questioned close relatives, including the deceased’s wife, to uncover the family conflicts that might have led to the crime.

The suspect, identified as 52 year old Prasit was arrested following a thorough investigation. He is the fourth son of the victim and is accused of premeditated murder.

Provincial Police Chief of Surat Thani, Police General Surinpan Sirikong reveals that following eyewitness questioning, overwhelming evidence pointed to Prasit, leading to his arrest by the Wiang Sa Provincial Court.

Prasit, who denies all charges, is being held for further questioning. His financial troubles are suspected to be a motive, as he stood to gain funeral compensation upon his father’s death.

Authorities are also investigating Prasit’s involvement in the previous year’s murder of his sister, Sa-arn, adding another layer to the case. Witnesses, including Prasit’s mother, Kleuab, confirmed his involvement in both incidents.

Further investigations revealed Prasit’s financial distress. Authorities detained his grandmother for questioning upon noticing inconsistencies in her statements. DNA tests and comparisons with old cases are underway to strengthen the evidence against Prasit.

The police are holding Prasit while seeking legal representation for him due to the severity of the charges, which could lead to the death penalty. Meanwhile, Prasit’s daughter attempted to visit him this morning but was turned away due to visiting hours.

She expressed uncertainty about her father’s involvement, citing their lack of recent contact as Prasit now lives with his new wife in the Khao Tok subdistrict, reported Khaosod.

Prasit’s arrest left the community in shock, as he faced severe charges amidst a backdrop of familial tensions and financial desperation.

The investigation continues as authorities work to piece together evidence linking Prasit to the recent and past family tragedies.

And there's another cretin that should not be allowed to live any longer.

Are these horrible crimes becoming more common of late, many of them also seem to be between family members, what about Thai rak Thai?

He stands to gain from 'funeral compensation'? Is this one of those hokey insurance scams where you effectively are insuring someone else's life via compensation for funeral expenses. I've never actually seen anyone raise their hands and say "Hey I'll cover the funeral costs with my insurance pay out!"

Father should have stopped breeding at the 3rd son.

Every guide book about Thailand and its culture will dwell on the closeness of Thai families. That has as much legitimacy as calling Thailand the land of smiles. I've read several times that Thailand has double the number of gun deaths as the USA, with the difference between the two being that in Thailand they are largely due to domestic disputes. That may or may not be true - I've read 'statistics confirming and denying it.

88 years old... he had a long life...

mercy killings aka euthanasia is impossible here as vets don't even want to put down an old dog in pain...

maybe if houses at actual grounding, this could be prevented?
