Coral bleaching around the islands

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

I was kayaking between the Lomprayah pier at Mae Nam and Ban Tai beach, and noticed a lot of white areas in the water that I haven't seen there before. Seems that  massive coral bleaching happened. Are Phangan or Koh Tao affected?

Are there any corals in that area?

There are some but pretty sparse, there are a lot of rocks as well. You can see them from the Mae Nam view point and also on Google Maps. Water visibility is poor and very few people snorkel there.

It's a big deal and many don't believe it. Tough times for our beautiful planet

Same happens to the Great Barrier reef in Australia

The only place that I found live coral off Samui was in Crystal Bay but that was probably 15 years ago or more.

Southern most part of Chaweng Beach, outside the cliffs separating Chaweng Noi Beach.

Easy swimming access from the beach.
