Single Entry Visa And Re-entry Permit Question

Featured Replies

Hi, I need advice on re-entry to Thailand. I am Irish and when I filled out the visa application form there was no box to tick for single entry/multiple entry (at least I didnt see it) and so I was giveen a single entry visa.

The problem is that I am flying into Bangkok, staying there for a few days, then North to Chiang Mai, then into Laos, down along Vietnam, through Cambodia and back into Thailand, travelling a bit around Thailand and then departing Bangkok.

Since I only have a single entry visa will I have problems getting back into Thailand from Cambodia or if I get a re-entry permit on arrival in the airport can I use this to re-enter Thailand from Cambodia and save myself the hassle of applying for a second visa?

Any info or advice would be greatly appreciated

u can always get a re entry on thai cambodian border.or at immigration office at bkk

Since Ireland is one of the visa wavier countries, on your second entry into Thailand you will receive a 30-day visa wavier entry stamp (since your single entry tourist visa is no longer valid) allowing you to stay in the country for 30 days without a visa. If you do not plan to stay longer then 30 days after coming in from Cambodia, you do not need a new visa.

Re-entry permits are for people on 1-year extensions of Non-Imm O or B type visas, not tourist visas.

It is my understanding that re-entry permits can be issued under any kind of visa including 60 days tourist visa but not under a 30day entry stamp.

Is this correct?

but a single re-entry permit costs 1,000.- Baht so a 30 day entry stamp after Cambodia may be cheaper.

A re-entry permit can be done on both 60 days tourist visas and non-immigrant visas, but not on 30 days entry stamps.
