Meiji currently @ 95 baht (was 99.75 baht last week) for 2 litres in Big C where I live. Lowest it's been for ages.

225 baht for 5 litres - same price everywhere, except Friendship, which charges 225.25.

So what's the verdict? Does the NZ powdered milk taste as good as Meiji fresh milk?

I bought some a while ago and tested it. It doesn't taste the same as the fresh Meiji, but it is just as good. I enjoyed it. I was surprised. Powdered milk technology has come a long way since I last tasted powdered milk, many years ago.

... however, as much as I enjoyed it, I also enjoy fresh milk, so I won't be switching to it. It's too much hassle ordering it and mixing it, for very little cost benefit.

40 baht a litre so two litres 80 baht, Makro 2 litres milk is around 99 baht so not a big saving for faffing about with powder?

But I can keep 10 bags in my cupboard ......... faffing around vs 20 m/c or car journeys.

I'll go with the faffing around, although 1 or 2 teaspoons of powder into my hot tea isn't that much effort.

Very little cost benefit?

347 baht for about 16 liter of milk.

Yes, that is cheap, but I was critiquing the NZ full cream milk powder, not low-fat options. I wanted to taste the difference between full cream Meiji and the NZ product another member suggested, and it was a lot more expensive than your Richie brand. The difference, mixed at full strength and the Meiji milk was not worth the bother.

I only buy full-cream milk, but I see that there are a lot of options available now that were not available about a year ago.

Yeah i find it easy, my first bag 255 baht has made about 10L of milk, main advantage is it's very handy and no waste

The full cream version is actually 12 baht cheaper for 1 kg, same brand , same seller.

The price I purchased is after discounts applied, which are always available on Shopee.

The results of which i  saw again at my local BigC yesterday: women who even in America would count as obese. 20 years ago,  I saw that kind of people less than once a month.  Yesterday,  I saw about 20 of them.

You saw obese people in Thailand only once a month? I was here too, and there were a lot more than that. People have been complaining about the weight of Thai girls on this forum for the last 20 years I've been here. "Oh my, they are so much fatter these days", you'd often read.

More cheap confectionery, more ice cream and doughnut shops. It's not Westernisation; it's a natural propensity of humans to enjoy fatty and sweet things. It's not the Thai food, but the junk food snacks on the side that make them fat.

I finally got around to trying some of this dairy rich milk powder and the taste is horrible. It tastes exactly like powdered milk and nothing like fresh milk.

I don't know what you lot have been smoking, for me it's undrinkable even in hot drinks. I'll be sticking with Meiji.

I don't understand using powder milk instead of real (as real as possible) milk. Only use for coffee, don't drink milk anymore.

Hope it's not about the money. Milk money

Can make milk in minutes rather than going out to the supermarket to get so never run out, that's a benefit for sure

I do drink it as milk, and quite like the taste, not much different to Meiji IMHO.

That is the terrible one I am sure is made from powder, it also tastes like grass to me.  I get angry when I dont check and get that stuff instead of Meiji. Both have a similar label with the blue.

95-105 Baht for 2 Litres of Milk on Grab and in TOPS...  thats around £2.20 ... My mate just showed me £1.49 at Tescos in the UK.  I always noticed Milk was not cheap here, I call it "White Gold" in this house...But Why?   Do Dairy Cows go on Strike here?

Maybe use them brains and wonder where cows mostly produce this fresh daily? Perhaps they do a lot in UK and not in TH. Did you know it's allowed to use brains and think critically?

I wouldn't be surprised if they all come from milk powder, probably a big secret and no Dutch Miln full fat doesn't taste like grass

Its Dutch Mill and to me it tastes funny, I used grass rather than sh*t. Really dont think you can tell me what I taste. By far the least popular whole milk in Thailand, the majority is sold as UHT.

Some folks have their very own personal money milker.

Have you tasted grass, by that I mean the green growing stuff that cows eat and ruminate over?

Probably because they're all made from powdered milk.

No I asked you a question;  "Have you tasted grass,"  Please answer yes or no or don't bother with another puerile response!

I can be at a 7-11 in less than a minute, or at the beach.

It isn't Dutch either, its American.

You can go to the supermarket before you run out.  Or you could run out of powder before you replace it.

Don't see any logic in your reasoning.

Of course there's logic, you don't see it, milk goes off, powder doesn't, probably lasts months, milk maybe a week+
