Man Burns Down House in Martial Dispute

Recommended Posts

Koh Samui, on June 21, at 11:00 a fire broke out in a residential area in Village No. 6, Bo Phut Sub-district, Koh Samui.

The fire originated from a single-story wooden house, closely situated among several others. The intense flames rapidly spread, prompting a swift response from local firefighters who managed to bring the blaze under control short.

The cause of the fire was identified as a domestic dispute. During an argument with his wife, a man set his own house on fire in an act of defiance. The flames then spread to three neighbouring houses, causing extensive damage.

No casualties have been reported, but the incident has left multiple families without homes. Authorities are investigating the full extent of the damage and are providing assistance to the affected residents.

I will read this for my wife the next time we have a discussion about something.

Don't forget to let your near-neighbors in on your cunning plan.

Yes it is indeed sad when someone who is a wannabe expert and wannabe moderator, didn't get the humour sense implanted at his birth.

That was an expensive argument, what's the prison sentence for arson here?

Under the Thai criminal code section 217 - Arson

“Whoever sets fire to things belonging to another person, shall be imprisoned from six months to seven years or fined from one thousand baht to fourteen thousand baht.”

So not a very cunning plan on his part.

Yes, clearly not the brightest spark.

The arson will cover the neighbors, or police could use s ection 225.” Fire by Negligence”

“Whoever, causing fire by negligence and causing the belongings of other persons to be damaged, or likely to cause damage to the life of the other person, shall be imprisoned for not more than seven years or fined not more than fourteen thousand Baht, or both.”

Burning his own home will probably not considered arson, unless he tries to claim after the fire. If his wife was in the house he could also face charges of trying to cause her harm.

Looking at the buildings, very doudtful there was any insurance.
